    • In a data media storage library for storing and accessing storage media, the storage media being contained in cartridges, the data media storage library having a library housing, an access opening in the library housing for inserting cartridges, a storage array within the library housing including a number of storage locations, a plurality of media storage elements adapted to hold the storage media, a plurality of data transfer elements adapted to read and write information on the storage media, and a media transport element within the library housing adapted to move the storage media between the media storage element and the data transfer element, an import/export element which rotates the cartridge 180 degrees after moving the cartridge from the access opening to the media transport element, including: a cartridge holder adapted to receive the media cartridge from the access opening; a lead screw mounted in a first direction between a first point and a second point and rotating about a first axis parallel to the first direction; a keyed nut threaded on the lead screw, the keyed nut having a first slot and a second slot, and a rail alternately engaging the first slot and second slot, the rail extending between the first point and the second point; a detent adapted to alternately engage the first and second slot adjacent the rail at the second point; a first bevel gear fastened to the keyed nut; and a second bevel gear meshing with the first bevel gear and a shaft driven by the second bevel gear and connected to the cartridge holder.

    • An apparatus for picking and placing media supported in stores and drives of a data storage library without electrical actuation or separate mechanical actuation means of grasping and releasing the media's pick feature, the apparatus including: a carriage movable toward and away from the media, the media being supported in the stores and drives; at least one picker member pivotally attached to the carriage at a pivot point and having a latching portion adapted to engage the media's pick feature. The picker member is movable between an open state wherein the latching portion is spaced from the media's pick feature and a closed state wherein the latching portion engages the media's pick feature. The apparatus also includes a spring having a first end attached to the carriage and a second end attached to the picker member. The spring is alternately orientable between a first orientation wherein the spring biases the picker member toward the media and a second orientation wherein the spring biases the picker member away from the media. The movement of the picker member between the open state and the closed state and between the closed state and the open state is caused by movement of the picker member against the media supported in the stores and drives without any electrical or separate mechanical actuation means cooperating with the picker member.

    • An arrangement to provide a card cage of an electronic system with a retaining bar. The retaining bar simply and quickly latches in to holes drilled in the side of the card cage. Similarly, the retaining bar quickly unlatches from its holes to provide access for maintenance personnel. The retaining bar has a spring loaded latch element at each end of its length. It has a bar member with a U-shaped cross section in order to prevent excessive bending in the middle. The retaining bar further has a layer of resilient material between the U-shaped bar member and the printed wiring cards to provide a force against each card to retain it in its respective card position. The resilient material may be highly insulating or it may be anti-static as the technology requires.

    • A variable speed fan device includes a housing, a motor, a fan blade, a controller, and a first plurality of discrete light sources. The motor is maintained by the housing and the fan blade is connected to the motor. The controller is electronically coupled to the motor and manages an operational status of the variable speed fan device. The light sources are adapted to emit light from the display panel along a discontinuous perimeter at the exterior face. In an activated state, the light emitted by each light source is visually perceptible an exterior face of the display panel. The controller is programmed to individually activate and deactivate the light sources in a predetermined pattern creating a perception of movement of light about the discontinuous perimeter at the exterior face of the display panel corresponding with an operational status of the variable speed fan device.
