摘要： A wheeled device, and method of making thereof, that simulates the feel and performance of alpine skiing/snowboarding on dry land is provided. Features of embodiments include: (1) a deck having flex similar to that of a ski/snowboard; (2) placement of wheels in a geometry mimicking the side cut of a shaped alpine ski/snowboard, and that with feature (1), enables a user to turn the device in an arc; and (3) wheels constructed of materials of varied coefficients of friction, which enable a user to skid the device in a braking mechanism similar to that of an alpine ski/snowboard, with the placement and design of the wheels emulating the base edge bevel of a typical snow-ski/snowboard. In an embodiment, the device is affixed to a user's feet using a binding device similar to that used for alpine skiing/snowboarding, and the user primarily relies on gravity on an inclined plane for locomotion.

摘要： Provided is an oriented polymeric sheet comprising a photochromic-dichroic material, wherein the sheet exhibits dichroism in an activated state. Also provided is a multilayer composite comprising at least a support layer; and an oriented thermoplastic polymeric sheet having two opposing surfaces and comprising a photochromic-dichroic material. The sheet exhibits dichroism in an activated state. At least one surface of the sheet is connected to at least a portion of the support layer. The present invention also relates to an optical element comprising the multilayer composite. Related methods also are disclosed.

摘要： The method for a digital imaging device to recognize text on the captured image or video and translate the text to operator's desired language as an overlay to the original image in real-time or replay mode. The image or video is processed in real-time cross referencing translation data and text recognition algorithms allowing the operator to view translated text from the device's monitor and/or electronic viewfinder. Images and video that are stored in media can be replayed with or without the translated text since the translation data is saved as a discrete layer to the image, thus the operator can choose alternate translations. The device screen or viewfinder can have operator defined zones within the field of view of the imaging device where text recognizable by the imaging device will execute translation methods applicable to the zone.
