    • A valve has a housing formed with a central chamber centered on and extending along a main axis, an inlet passage and an outlet passage having mouths in the chamber spaced angularly from and confronting each other, and a secondary passage offset from the inlet and outlet passages and centered on an axis offset from a center of one of the mouths by more than 90°. A valve pin fitted in the chamber is formed with a secantally throughgoing flow passage centered on a flow-passage axis generally parallel to but offset from a diameter of the pin. A filter is provided in the flow passage, the secondary passage being sufficiently large that, when the pin is pivoted to align the flow passage with the secondary passage, the filter can be removed from the flow passage through the secondary passage.

    • A viscometer for molten plastic has a housing having first and second relatively displaceable parts with generally complementary and substantially planar faces. The first part is formed with a throughgoing melt passage adapted for connection in a flow system of the molten plastic. A hinge interconnects the parts. An outgoing conduit extends from the melt to a pump intake and from a pump output to an opening on the face of the first housing part. A plurality of sensors on one of the parts are connected to respective openings on the face of the one part. A return conduit extends from another opening on the face of the first housing part offset from the opening of the outgoing line. An exchangeable metal foil formed with a slot into which all of the openings open is engaged tightly between the two faces.

    • The invention relates to a device for the controlled guidance of a polymer melt. Said device comprises a housing (1) having an inlet channel (5) and an outlet channel (6) for the polymer melt in which housing a control element can be displaced between the exits of the inlet channel (5) and the outlet channel (6) perpendicular to the inlet channel (5) and the outlet channel (6) in a sealing manner. A rotatable pin (2, 15) is used as the control element and has a flow channel (3, 16) for the polymer melt to flow through and can be rotated from a first to a second position by means of a rotary arm (9). The aim of the invention is to provide a device of the above type which is compact, inexpensive and allows various functions to be carried out with few different components. For this purpose, the flow channel (3, 16) is eccentric in relation to the rotatable pin (2, 15).

    • A filter for a synthetic resin melt has a housing formed from two blocks through which a melt channel for the passage of the plastics melt passes. A screen plate is rotatably mounted to intrude between the blocks and a plurality of recesses are distributed in a circular pattern around the periphery of the screen plate so that rotation can bring two of the recesses in to line with the channel. A plurality of filter elements are accommodated, one each in each recess, so that the plastic melt must pass through the filters in the recesses in line with the channel. To support the filter elements against melt pressure a stationary perforated plate is located in the channel immediately adjacent and downstream of the screen plate. By rotating the screen plate exhausted filter elements can be readily replaced. The filter elements are made of woven wire cloth and may be dished to prevent distortion of the mesh.

The spraying passage or the opposite passage are provided with a blocking device which is synchronized with a drive of the disc, the spraying nozzle has a slot width which substantially corresponds to a value of a displacement cycle of the sieve discs.

    • A ring nozzle for use with an extruder to continuously form a synthetic-resin tube has a substantially stationary back nozzle part having an axially forwardly directed front face and formed with an axially centered passage opening at the face. This part is typically bolted over the outlet of the extruder. An axially centered core rod is substantially fixed in the passage and extends axially forward past the front face. This rod is also fixed in the extruder so that same can emit a hot and thick tubular strand of a plastified synthetic resin. An annular and movable front nozzle part fits with spacing around the core forward of the front face and forms therewith an axially centered and forwardly open annular gap. The thick tubular strand formed by the extruder becomes a thin-walled strand that emerges from the annular gap. The axially confronting faces of the front and back mold parts have complementary part-spherical surfaces riding on each other and permitting the front nozzle part to tip limitedly on the back nozzle part, but having adjustment elements braced axially at three or more generally angularly equispaced locations between the back and front faces for tipping the front part on the back part and thereby adjusting the gap. Biasing means urges the front part axially back against the adjustment elements. This biasing means includes springs bearing axially back against the front part.
