摘要： This invention provides a safer and more effective treatment for non-intracavitary undesirable tissue masses, especially bone cancer and soft tissue tumors. The method involves the direct administration of a therapeutically-effective dose of a formulated radioisotope composition nearby or directly into the tissue mass. Small volumes of the composition are used.Administration of the dose for bone cancer may be done through a hole or multiple holes created in the bone using a miniature drill. Delivery of the dose directly into a tumor may be accomplished using a microsyringe or a miniature pump capable of accurately delivering microliter amounts of material.

摘要： The adaptive temperature controller includes an ambient temperature sensor, a device for measuring resistance, an electrically-conductive material, a power supply, and a device for controlling power. In operation, the controller determines the resistance of material at or near ambient temperature. Based on such determination so long as voltage and power are known, the resistance of the material, and therefore its instant temperature is known. Additionally, the adaptive temperature controller determines the responsiveness of the electrically-conductive material to determine the predicted increase in temperature and rate of increase in temperature relative to increases in voltage, current or power. As a result the voltage or power may be instantly varied to produce near infinite control over material temperature.

摘要： A method and apparatus are set forth which enables a gas chromatographic column output to be connected with a pulse discharge chamber in which chemically bound chlorine in volatile organic or inorganic samples is measured. A spark discharge is formed in the chamber to ionize and excite helium molecules to a metastable state. In turn, that transfers excitation to a trace of krypton gas in the chamber which is ionized, and the ionized krypton then preferentially binds with chemically bound chlorine. The latter binding occurs with the liberation of a photon centered at about 222 nanometers thereby defining a spectral region of interest which is measured by a photomultiplier tube to quantify chemically bound chlorine.

摘要： The illustrated and preferred embodiment of the present invention is a sample delivery system for packed or open tubular column gas chromatographic apparatus. The apparatus comprises a sample injection valve constructed and arranged to utilize multiple ports wherein a gaseous or liquid sample is injected through a syringe into an injection port, the valve being heated to volatilize the sample which is then temporarily stored in a sample storage loop. The valve apparatus rotates to connect the sample storage loop with an inlet conduit delivering the sample and sweep gas to an exponential dilution flask (EDF). The flask provides an output which delivers a diluted portion of sample with the extent of dilution controlled as a function of time through a second valve assembly. The second valve assembly is switched with a timer to deliver a portion of the sample flow and sweep gas to a capillary bore gas chromatographic apparatus. The first valve may also be used independently as an off-line, septumless inlet for use with packed columns without the dilution stage.

摘要： An adaptor assembly is disclosed in two embodiments. Each embodiment is for connecting a tubing to a fitting of different size. The alternate embodiment is similar to the first embodiment except that it cooperates with a male fitting as opposed to a female fitting. In the embodiment for connection to a female fitting, a hollow threaded nut drives a tapered spool into a tubular seat, and the tubing is placed on the interior of the nut, spool and seat. All of this is placed in a hollow threaded adaptor which abuts a larger tapered spool, all of which threads into the female fitting. When the components are threaded together, they squeeze and clamp the tubing. The tubing, once clamped, is held securely and cannot be pulled free. The threaded adaptor has a wall thickness enabling it to mate with a fitting of any suitable size. The male counterpart equipment is similar in construction except that the adaptor coupling is provided with two sets of threads arranged respectively at countersunk internal axial portions to receive a male fitting thereinto.
