    • An attachment lens is arranged in a stage subsequent to a scanning lens. After a laser beam is converged by the scanning lens, the laser beam is converted into a parallel beam by the attachment lens. When the scanning lens is displaced in a direction perpendicular to an optical axis of the laser beam, a traveling direction of the laser beam is bent by a predetermined angle immediately after the laser beam passes through the scanning lens. Then, the traveling direction of the laser beam is further bent by a predetermined angle in the same direction by the passage of the laser beam through the attachment lens. Accordingly, a final swing angle of the laser beam outgoing from an outgoing window is increased by a swing angle imparted by the attachment lens compared with the case where the attachment lens is not arranged. One of lens surfaces of the attachment lens is formed in a toroidal surface, which allows the laser beam to have a long outline in a vertical direction.

    • The present invention provides a recording medium and an information recording/reproducing apparatus which permit recording and/or reproducing by a laser beam of optimized power for each recording medium. The recording medium is provided with a calibration region in addition to an information recording region. The calibration region has wobbles formed such that the amplitude of the waveform of a reproduced signal therefrom can change. Prior to recording to the information recording region, a signal is recorded in the calibration region by changing the laser power, and the recorded signal is immediately reproduced. The waveform of the reproduced signal is evaluated to determine optimum laser power for recording. At the time of reproducing, a signal previously recorded in the calibration region is reproduced while changing the laser power, and laser power optimum for reproducing is determined.

    • A pressure roller is generally disposed between the yarn discharge portion of a spinning unit and a yarn oscillating device of a winding unit in a spinning unit. The pressure roller is in contact with a drive roller to form a nip therebetween and is formed with a notch provided in one end edge of the pressure roller to transport the yarn into the nip. The notch intersects the end face of the pressure roller at boundary lines extending from the end edge thereof inwardly.According to this invention, one of the boundary lines provided on the downstream side of a rotational direction of the pressure roller comprises at least two portions extending out of line, and distances between tangential planes to the two portions of the one of the boundary lines and planes parallel to the tangential planes and including a center of the pressure roller are so selected that the distance with respect to the portion including the outermost end of the one of the boundary lines is larger than that with respect to the portion including the innermost end of the one of the boundary lines.
