摘要： Scanning beam display systems based on scanning light on a fluorescent screen. The screen can include fluorescent materials which emit visible light under excitation of the scanning light to form images with the emitted visible light. Multiple lasers can be used to simultaneously scan multiple laser beams to illuminate the screen for enhanced display brightness. For example, the multiple laser beams can illuminate one screen segment at a time and sequentially scan multiple screen segments to complete a full screen.

摘要： An optical beam switch is provided in a multiple beam optical disc record and playback system. Current systems for very high data rate optical disc mass memory apparatus include requirements for near-continuous recording of data using two separate turntables in a single apparatus. To reduce cost and complexities in the system as well as power requirements, the optical system includes a beam switch that allows a single record laser and modulator to be shared between two turntables. In accordance with the system a half-wave plate is shifted into and out of the beam path to effect polarization change of the light beam. A polarizing beam splitter, which follows the half-wave plate in the beam path, shifts the light beam in one of two directions depending upon the polarization of the light beam or, in other words, the position of the half-wave plate.

摘要： A technique for marking pixels on workpieces by routing a scanned beam to different marking stations to mark individual pixels on the workpieces. A diffractive scan lens focuses the beam. A mark is formed on a workpiece by producing the mark and curing the mark. Angular position of a scanning mirror in a raster scanner is determined by moving a beam, reflected from the scanner, across rulings on an optical element during scanning. A print head for printing spots on a surface of a workpiece has a walled, internally pressurized chamber and structure for causing an inked web to conform to a contour of the chamber wall and to be pulled along the chamber wall. A print head has a compliant-walled, internally pressurized chamber. A print head has a chamber having a low-coefficient of friction coating. Two workpieces may be marked at two marking stations by two-directional scanning.
