    • A mechanical control apparatus is provided for controlling the spray or misting of water into the immediate vicinity of the condenser coils in the compressor unit of an air conditioner, and comprises a hinged, vaned paddle member; and a water valve mechanically connected to and operable by the paddle member. The paddle member is mounted so that blown air flow from an air fan in the compressor unit will impinge on the paddle member, will and cause it to pivot upwardly about a hinge. The paddle member has a mechanical valve operating member, and is connected to a source of pressurized water, so that when the valve is open, water will pass through it to at least one nozzle mounted on the compressor unit to be sprayed or misted into the immediate vicinity of the condenser coils. The mechanical linkage between the paddle member and the valve is such that when the paddle member is pivoted upwardly, the valve will be opened; and when the paddle member is in its horizontal orientation, the valve will be closed. The hinged paddle member has a first half region which is distal with respect to the hinge, and a second half region which is proximal the hinge; and there are a plurality of vane elements which are spaced away from each other. The vane elements which are in the first half region are each sloped upwardly and in a direction towards the hinge, and the vane elements which are in the second half region are each sloped upwardly and in a direction away from the hinge.

    • A signage holder for mounting to the front of a retail shelf. The signage holder has a spine extending in a longitudinal direction along a substantially vertical plane. Display retainers for holding different types of sign mounts, such as peg plates and cards, are mounted to the front face of the spine. A flange is detachably mounted to the spine, a portion of which extends rearwardly of the spine in a substantially horizontal plane. A pair of bumpers are mounted to the front face of the spine and extend forwardly of the display retainer. One of the bumpers is provided with a wire channel to allow the signage holder to be suspended from a wire.

    • A tear-resistant flexible hinge structure is placed between a pair of substantially rigid panels so as to permit the panels to be hinged one with respect to the other, where the flexible hinge is formed from a plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride. The hinge structure is formed under heat and pressure so as to comprise at least three parallel rows of alternating flat and raised portions, in staggered relationship. This causes a structure whereby any rip or tear which starts in the formed flexible hinge cannot continue because it will encounter a discontinuity in the configuration and thickness of the material, which precludes further propagation of the rip or tear. Typically, after the hinge structure has been formed, it is configured in a semi-circular cross section, re-heated and cooled, so as to set and have a memory in its closed configuration as opposed to the originally pre-formed flat, open configuration.

    • An information display system in retail stores is used to display, hold and protect product information display cards, and comprises a shelf contacting panel, a front presentation face, a pair of stiffening ribs, two side panels and at least one display pocket, all formed as an integral structure to which at least one display pocket is hingedly attached. The display pocket is openable so that an information display card may be inserted. Prospective customers may read the information contained on the front and back of the information display cards by simply turning the display pocket on its hinge. Retail store personnel may also easily replace or rearrange the information display cards within the information display system. When the information display system comprises at least two display pockets, they are arranged in such a manner that one display pocket overlies a substantial portion of another display pocket. Thus, more information can be displayed in a small area.

    • A protective display system for displaying a plurality of substantially planar display cards and methods for making the same are provided. The unitary protective display system comprises at least a first pair of transparent panels, and a flexible living hinge. Each of the panels has a front face, a back face, and at least one straight peripheral edge. At least one of the panels is an envelope which is adapted to receive at least one display card. Each one of the panels are opposed to one another such that each of the at least one straight peripheral edge are opposed edges. The flexible living hinge is located along at least a portion of the straight peripheral edge of each panel, and is interposed therebetween such that at least one of the envelopes is rotatable about the flexible living hinge. The flexible living hinge also has greater flexibility than each of the panels.
