    • Handset, computer software and method for protecting sensitive network information, available in the handset, from disclosure to an unauthorized server, by using an abstraction function module, the handset being connected to a network. The method includes receiving at the abstraction function module an encoding key from an abstraction server; receiving at the abstraction function module a request from a client or application for providing the sensitive network information from a control plane module of the handset, wherein the client or application resides in a user plane module, which is different from the control plane module, the sensitive network information is stored in the control plane module of the handset, and both the control plane module and the user plane module reside in the handset; retrieving by the abstraction function module the requested sensitive network information from the control plane module; encrypting, by the abstraction function module, the retrieved sensitive network information based on the received encoding key; and providing the encrypted sensitive network information to the client or application in the user plane module.

    • A method is described for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network. The data packet is sent in a data flow from an application function of the user equipment, the packet bearer (PB) is established with the user equipment to transmit the data packet (DP) over the communication network towards a further entity, and the user equipment is adapted to establish different packet bearers. The method comprises the steps of identifying the flow with the data packet in a control entity of the communication network, determining the packet bearer for association with said flow from the different packet bearers in a policy function of the control entity, determining a routing level identification of the further entity, instructing the user equipment to install a packet filter based on the routing level identification, wherein the packet filter associates data packets comprising the routing level identification of the further entity with the determined packet bearer, providing the routing level identification to the application function, including the routing level identification into the data packet, and forwarding the data packet (DP) on the determined packet bearer (PB).     • A method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed. The packet bearer (PB) transmits the data packet to a communication entity in the communication network. The communication network comprises at least one control entity to exchange signaling information with the user equipment. The user equipment comprises at least one executing unit for executing one or more applications which create the data packet, a packet marking entity for marking at least one control field in the data packet and a transmission unit for sending the data packet on the packet bearer. After setting up the packet bearer between the transmission unit and the communication entity, a first signaling of filter parameters for defining a packet filter is received by the user equipment. The filter parameters correspond to a packet marking. A second signaling of the packet marking from the control entity is received by the user equipment and forwarded to the packet marking entity. The data packet is marked with the signaled packet marking. The packet filter corresponding to the filter parameters is established for scanning data packets forwarded from the executing unit to the transmission unit and is associated with the packet bearer. The data packet with the marking corresponding to the filter parameters is forwarded on the associated packet bearer. A corresponding mobile network, control entity, user equipment and computer program are also described.

    • Providing a service in user equipment (UE) that operates within a mobile telecommunications system involves running a client application instance (CAI) in the UE, wherein the CAI interacts with a remotely-located server application via a network by means of a protocol that includes polling. A message is sent to the server application, the message including a PUSH address that uniquely identifies the UE and the CAI within the UE. The server application stops polling activity, and instead initiates a PUSH request when there is updated information to be supplied to the CAI. The UE consequently receives a PUSH that includes the identifier of the CAI, and consequently notifies the CAI of the received PUSH. The CAI responds by sending a polling message to the server application via the network. The server application sends a response to the polling message, the response including information associated with the service.
