    • An adaptive receiver for receiving a radio frequency (RF) signal and converting the RF signal at an RF frequency FRF toward a low intermediate frequency FIF is disclosed. The adaptive receiver comprises a pair of band pass filters with a nominal center frequency Fc equal to FIF, a look-up table (LUT) configured to estimate a frequency offset Δf, representing the center frequency of the band pass filter due to an operating temperature change and/or process variation, a micro controller configured to estimate the operating center frequency of the band pass filter (=FIF+Δf with the frequency offset included) and use this new center frequency as the adaptive intermediate frequency FIF,AD, and a local oscillator generates oscillating signals at a frequency FLO equal to FRF minus FIF,AD. A temperature sensing device may also be included in this adaptive receiver.

    • A GFSK (Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying) radio transceiver is provided for ISM (Industrial Scientific and Medical) wideband communication. The GFSK radio transceiver includes a transmitter for modulating transmitted signal into RF signal, and a receiver for demodulating received signal into digital form. The transmitter includes a VCO for generating an oscillating signal serving as a carrier signal in the transmitter and a first local oscillating signal in the transmitter; and a variable-gain power amplifier, capable of being adjustable between two gain values, for amplifying the RF signal. The receiver includes a mixer for downconverting the received signal into a first IF signal by using the first local oscillating signal from the transmitter; and an IF demodulator for downconverting the first IF signal into a second IF signal by using a locally generated second local oscillating signal. The GFSK radio transceiver can operate either in half-duplex mode or full-duplex mode in a time-division duplex (TDD) system through micro-processor controls. Further, it utilizes a variable-gain power amplifier that can improve the drawbacks of interference and high power consumption with the prior art, and further utilizes a single wideband VCO to generate an oscillating signal that can be used both as the carrier signal in the transmitter and the first local oscillating signal for the receiver. This allows the GFSK radio transceiver to be implemented with a fewer number of VCOs as compared to the prior art, thus reducing the manufacturing cost.

    • A direct digital synthesizer (DDS) for generating a waveform output according to a frequency input and a clock signal is provided. The direct digital synthesizer includes: a code generator for generating a digital code in response to the frequency input and the clock signal, a digital-analog converter (DAC) electrically connected with the code generator and comprising plural difference weighted coefficients for generating an analog waveform through an operation of the plural difference weighted coefficient and the digital code, and a filter electrically connected with the difference weighted digital-analog converter (DAC) for filtering the analog waveform to generate the waveform output. The provided direct digital synthesizer is able to generate all kinds of periodic waveforms with different phases without the conventional wave lookup ROM-table.
