    • A calibration apparatus and method for a color printer that allows a user to calibrate a printer without the use of expensive measuring instruments and prior user training is provided. The calibration process prints out two target layouts. On the first target the user selects the primary inks start and end points (highlights and shadows), and the black ink only input value that generates a 30% gray. The primary inks are the device-dependent colorants, cyan, magenta and yellow. The second target compares the 30% black ink with grays made of a combination of cyan, magenta and yellow inks. The user selects the best match in an iterative process. Using this data, calculations are made of the corrections to the original input signal values for the printer. A look up table is updated with corrected input values to compensate for the printer deviation from its standard behavior.

    • A method and apparatus for launching a calibrator process by which the user is guided through the process of calibrating the conditions used by a particular print job is provided. Techniques are provided which calculate which print conditions will be used by the particular print job, which guarantees that the user is calibrating the correct conditions to get the best color quality for the particular job. The method and apparatus further provides techniques that allow the user to specify the conditions under which a calibration is considered expired in terms of time since the last calibration and the number of prints since the last calibration The method and apparatus further provides techniques for when the user encounters a new media type or print condition, the system can measure such and inform the user whether to create a new profile and/or new calibration set to get the optimal color quality.

    • The invention is directed to a floor cleaning apparatus which includes a nozzle-like structure for a vacuum cleaner. The apparatus is for vacuum cleaning and polishing hard floors and is moved by the operator in a desired direction. The apparatus includes a chassis defining a longitudinal axis and at least two working plates for working on the surface of the hard floor. The working plates are movably mounted on the chassis so as to perform respective reciprocal movements counter to each other and in a direction ninety degrees to the desired direction in which the apparatus is moved by the operator. The plates conjointly define a total depth extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the chassis and work plate takes up one-third of this depth. The other one of the work plates takes up two-thirds of this depth. The work plates have a flat shape and at least one of the work plates is pervious to air. The work plates are sealed at their edges and are mounted on the apparatus by means of elastic bearings.
