    • An electrically energized device for coalescing a first conductive fluid emulsified in a second fluid. A tube member has at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet. The tube member defines a flow channel for an emulsion of the first and second fluid from its inlet side to its outlet side and includes at least one electrically insulating wall portion. An interacting pair of a first and a second electrode is separated from the first and second fluid by at least one insulating wall portion of the tube member. The electrodes are supplied with a voltage for the purpose of subjecting the first and second fluid flowing through the flow channel to an electrostatic field. At least one passive center electrode is made of a conducting material and is arranged in the channel and electrically insulated from the first and second electrode.

    • The subject of the invention is a method and a device for monitoring the parameters of the aqueous phase in water-in-oil emulsion wherein oil is in continuous phase and water is in dispersion phase in the form of droplets, applicable for the optimisation of the water-in-oil emulsion separation process. The method according to the invention consists in exposing the examined emulsion flowing through a test section of a pipe to an electromagnetic field in a microwave resonator and measuring the dielectric loss of the emulsion in one of the measuring systems and a second test section of the pipe is selected with the water-in-oil emulsion flowing through the pipe, which is exposed to an electromagnetic field of a frequency markedly lower than the microwave radiation frequency, and the dielectric loss of the emulsion is measured in the second measuring system. The results of the measurements are transmitted to a computer control device wherein the results of the measurements obtained simultaneously in both measuring systems are compared. The device according to the invention is characterised by having two resonant measuring systems /A/ and /B/ coupled with one another by means of a computer control device /C/, and one of the resonant measuring systems /A/ has an electromagnetic radiation generator /2/ of microwave frequencies, while die other resonant measuring system /B/ has an electromagnetic radiation generator /7/ of a frequency markedly lower than the microwave radiation frequency.

    • An electrostatic separator intended for separation of liquid phase systems, made up of mixtures of liquids of various electrical permittivity. In particular, the separator is intended for separation of an oil-and-water emulsion. The electrostatic separator contains a vessel, inside which there is suspended a system of electrodes energised from an external voltage source. The electrode system comprises at least one pair of conducting plates (8), which is attached to a supporting frame (7) and electrically connected with the high voltage winding of a feeding transformer (9), which is place in the supporting frame (7). The supporting frame (7) is preferably a casting of an insulating material. The conducting plates (8) of the electrode system are preferably connected to the winding of the feeding transformer (9) through a capacitive electrical connection.
