    • Methods and systems for managing bubbles in a micro electro mechanical systems device are described. One exemplary system includes a fluid-feed channel configured to supply fluid to a plurality of ejection chambers, individual ejection chambers comprising a resistor configured to eject fluid from the individual ejection chamber. The system further includes a processor configured to cause an individual resistor to be energized at a first intensity sufficient to eject fluid from a respective ejection chamber, the processor further configured to cause the resistor to be energized at a second lower intensity which heats the resistor but does not cause fluid to be ejected from the respective ejection chamber, and wherein the processor can energize, at the second lower intensity level, individual resistors in a pattern designed to detach a bubble from a surface defining a portion of the fluid-feed channel.

    • Methods and means for imaging on paper media are provided. A data file of an image to be printed is analyzed. A pattern for a clear fluid is determined according to the analysis. The pattern of clear fluid is applied to a paper media traveling in a particular direction, wherein the pattern is generally elongated along the direction of travel. The pattern of clear fluid is defined by a maximum width that is generally equal to the maximum width of the image to be formed. One or more colored inks are applied such that the image is formed and is supported by the paper media. The paper media exhibits reduced cockle as a result of the pattern of clear fluid.

    • A USB-based data acquisition system including virtual buffer software which increases USB data transfer rates with minimal changes to DAQ driver level software. The virtual buffer software operates to receive or intercept calls made by the DAQ driver level software to acquire data from the device, wherein the DAQ driver level software is designed to read the data from the device one sample at a time from the device. The virtual buffer software intercepts the call and requests the data in bulk packets from the device. The virtual buffer software then stores the received packets of data in a virtual buffer or virtual FIFO maintained in computer system memory. The DAQ driver level software then obtains the data from the computer system memory using much faster transfers. The virtual buffer software emulates operation of the device, including generation of interrupts and responses to status register reads, thus “fooling” the DAQ driver level software into thinking the data is being acquired from the device. Thus, the present invention allows for much faster data transfers, while requiring minimal or no changes to the existing DAQ driver level software.
