    • Standard patterns are formed from specific shapes making different inclination angles with a plane of projection, projected onto that plane of projection and then stored in a memory of a known CAD system. Subsequently, at least one standard pattern is called and displayed at an arbitrary position on a screen of a displaying apparatus. Then, a required standard pattern among the standard patterns called on the above-mentioned screen of CAD system is manipulated and copied at a predetermined position. The standard pattern is magnified or reduced by multiplying the copied standard pattern by the ratio of a required dimension to be displayed to a standard dimension. A predetermined shape is drawn as a cubic view by repeating this work. The above-mentioned standard patterns include principally straight lines and ellipses. The straight line has a multiplication ratio corresponding to the inclination angle made by the standard shapes to the standard dimension.

    • The method of drawing a cubic view, and more particularly to a method of drawing a cubic view by using data of plan views. First, displaying three model projection planes 1 for composing a cubic view on the display, and designating the plan view to be projected, the plane standard point and direction on the designated plate are specified. Then, the specific surface of the model projection plane and the direction on the model projection plane are designated. Finally, the display standard point is designated at an arbitrary position on the display. Accordingly, operating parameters shown in FIG. 1 overlaps the system of coordinates of 45.degree. rotation of the plan view on the system of coordinates of the major axis and minor axis of the ellipse on the projection plane, and obtains a projection view by multiplying by the ratio a/b of the major axis (a) and minor axis (b) in the major axis direction and minor axis direction, and this obtained projection view is matched with the plane standard point on the plan view at the display standard point, and the cubic view is displayed so that the direction on the plan view may coincide with the direction of the model projection plane.

    • A novel method of tracing a drawing and a novel apparatus for implementing this method. The method and the apparatus presented by the invention can correctly and quickly trace an ellipse from a draft plan. Initially, a display unit displays a draft plan which has been read by an image scanner, and then, the apparatus generates vector data corresponding to the draft plan by activating its own drawing function to trace the draft plan shown on the display screen. The apparatus computes length m0 of a long diameter and length m1 of a short diameter of an ellipse E of the draft plan by directly designating a pair of points Pi0 and Pi1 corresponding to both ends of the short diameter of the ellipse E and another pair of points Pj0 and Pj1 corresponding to both ends of the short diameter of the ellipse E. At the same time, the apparatus computes the direction D and the center point P0 of the long diameter corresponding to the center of the ellipse E, and then, based on those data of length m0 and m 1 of the long and short diameters, the direction D, and the center point P0 of the long diameter, the apparatus eventually generates vector data of the ellipse E. Known ratios for ellipses in specific projection drawings, e.g., an isometric projection, are stored in memory means and may be utilized in generating the vector data.
