    • A drive control device for an opening/closing member may be advantageously utilized in vehicular power window systems and the like. The drive control device is active to detect occurrence of pinching of an object obstructing the path of motion of the opening/closing member and, upon detection of such pinching during closing operation is controlled so as to move in the opening direction for a predetermined distance for preventing serious pinching from being applied to, for example, a persons hand or arm which may be blocking a power window while being closed by a vehicle driver. The drive control device further includes timing functions such that closing operation may not be immediately resumed after pinch detection, until a predetermined time period has elapsed. The pinch detection operation is effective to compensate for overrun of the opening/closing member caused by a lag between the time a closing control signal is stopped and the acutal motion of the opening/closing member finally and completely stops.

    • A drive control device for an opening and closing member is active to optimally adjust a threshold level for pinch detection. Utilizing a speed sensor or the like, the closing speed of the opening/closing member is detected. The value of the closing speed is renewed in accordance with the closing position and stored in memory. Based on memorized data, a predicting circuit derives a future closing speed. To the predicted value there is added an allowed addition value, to permit a threshold level setting circuit to set an appropriate threshold for pinch detection. The allowed addition value is adjusted in accordance with the closing speed of the opening/closing member by a threshold level adjusting circuit.

    • A control device controls an open/close movement of an automotive window pane which is driven by an electric motor. The device comprises a first switch for, when taking ON position, energizing the motor to drive the closure in a first direction toward a pull-opened position and a second switch for, when taking ON position, energizing the motor to drive the closure in a second direction toward a full-closed position. A determining device is provided for determining an energization stopping position which is taken by the closure before taking the full-opened position when moved in the first direction. The energization stopping position and said full-opened position are separated by a given distance. A controller is further provided which stops energization of the motor when the closure comes to the energization stopping position during movement in the first direction. The given distance is a distance for which the closure can run by the force of inertia produced when energization of the motor is stopped upon reaching of the closure to the energization stopping position during movement in the first direction.
