In some embodiments, a report provided by a radiologist in connection with a study of one or more medical images is analyzed to determine whether the radiologist provided an item of information called for by at least one guideline. If it is determined that the radiologist failed to provide the item of information called for by the at least one guideline, at least one assumption is automatically made with respect to the item of information, and the radiologist is prompted to review the at least one assumption. In some embodiments, one or more decision rules are generated based at least in part on at least one published guideline relating to at least one aspect of radiology, the one or more decision rules for use in automatically determining whether a radiologist's report complies with the at least one published guideline.
