    • There is provided a coordinates input apparatus for detecting the coordinates of a point indicated by an instruction pen on a vibration transmitting plate made of a transparent tablet on the basis of the vibration transmission times on this plate. This apparatus comprises: a pen as vibration generating means for generating a vibration; a tablet as a vibration transmitting plate to transmit the vibration generated by the pen; vibration sensors which are arranged on the tablet and detect at a plurality of positions the vibrations transmitted by making the pen come into contact with the tablet; a microcomputer for obtaining the vibration transmission distances from the vibration transmission times of the vibrations detected by the sensors and for calculating the coordinate point on the tablet with which the pen is come into contact; an output device to output the coordinate point calculated by the microcomputer; an erroneous detection discriminating circuit to discriminate whether the coordinate point calculated is the erroneously detected coordinate point or not; and a controller for allowing a correction point calculating means to calculate and output a correction point in place of the erroneously detected coordinate point.

    • A coordinate input apparatus in which by indicating a desired position on a coordinate input surface by an input pen, coordinate value data of the indicated position is detected and output, includes: an output device to output the coordinate value data; a detector for detecting the down state of the input pen; a memory for storing the coordinate value data detected after the elapse of a predetermined time from the detection of the pen-down state by detector; and a controller for allowing the coordinate value data stored in the memory to be output by the output device such as a liquid crystal display. With the apparatus, the fluctuations of the coordinate value data just after the pen-down operation and just before the pen-up operation can be eliminated and the stable coordinate value data can be always output. An erroneous detection due to the fluctuation of the coordinate value data upon coordinate input can be prevented.

    • An information inputting method, as well as an information inputting device, extracts effective characteristic points from inputted stroke information and outputs coordinate information relating to the extracted characteristic points. First point coordinates values are input in a sampling cycle at a predetermined sampling rate. Second point coordinates values are input in the sampling cycle delayed a predetermined time behind the inputting of the first point coordinate values. A first vector is formed based on the first and second point coordinate values. First and second point coordinate values are also input in the subsequent sampling cycle, and a second vector is determined based thereon. The first point coordinate values inputted earlier are selected when these values cause the angle formed between the first and second vectors to exceed a predetermined threshold value. Information concerning the selected first point coordinates values are output to, for example, a host device.
