    • A parallel arithmetic-logical processing device in which arithmetic-logical processing is shared among and executed in a parallel fashion by a plurality of processing elements. The device includes a large-capacity serial access memory for continuous reading/writing of large-scale data, a small-capacity serial access memory for continuous reading/writing of small-scale data and a high-speed general-purpose random access memory for random writing/readout of small-scale data. A central processing unit (CPU) causes the memories to be used or not used depending on the scale of the arithmetic-logical processing. Since the serial access memory executes continuous data writing and reading, high-speed access may be achieved, so that it can be manufactured inexpensively with a large storage capacity. Consequently, the processing speed in the CPU may be increased, while the parallel arithmetic-logical processing device may be manufactured inexpensively.

    • There is provided an information processing apparatus which records data in a recording medium including: a recording section which records data in the recording medium; a detecting section which detects continuous or fragmented free areas in minimum allocation unit of the recording medium; and a recording control section which controls the recording section so that the recording section sequentially records data in the continuous free areas of the recording medium detected by the detecting section, and at the time point when the recording is completed, the recording section moves an end portion of the recorded data to the fragmented free areas of the recording medium detected by the detecting section so as to be recorded.

    • An apparatus for holding a recording medium that contains an engagement member backwards with respect to an insert direction thereof has a main body containing an insert portion through which the recording medium is inserted on one end thereof and an eject portion on the other end thereof. The inserted recording medium are ejected from the eject portion with it being linked with an insert of the recording medium from the insert portion. The apparatus has a first engagement device that engages the engagement member of the recording medium when the recording medium is inserted by a predetermined position to hold the inserted recording medium. The apparatus has a second engagement device that engages the engagement member of the recording medium when the recording medium is ejected from the ejection portion to hold the ejected recording medium.
