    • A color image forming apparatus provided with a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image bearing member. The developing device comprises a plurality of developing units and supporting members for supporting the developing units thereon, and an arrangement is such that any developing units can be installed detachably on any supporting members each other. Then, the developing units have a developer supplying mechanism for feeding a developer each, and a supplemental developer container can be connected to each developer supplying mechanism. Then, the supplemental developer container is connected to one developing unit, and the developing unit provided with the supplemental developer is installed on a predetermined supporting member. The remaining developing units free from the supplemental developer container are then installed on the remaining supporting members. Accordingly, by connecting the supplemental developer container to a developing unit of the color to be consumed relatively more than the others and installing such developing unit on a predetermined supporting member, the developer of a desired color can be contained highly satisfactorily without constructing the color image forming apparatus entirely in a large size.

    • A binding unit binds sheets with a binder having an electric heater and electrodes for supplying electric current to the electric heater. The binding unit includes a container and an inner lid. The container has an insertion opening at one end through which the binder is inserted, and electrode terminals at the opposite end which come into contact with the electrodes of the binder. The inner lid is openable and provided in the container between the insertion opening and the electrode terminals. It assumes a closed position covering the electrode terminals when no binder is loaded in the container, and an open position allowing the electrodes of the binder to come into contact with the electrode terminals and at the same time supporting one side of the binder when loaded in the container. Consequently, when no binding operation is underway, the inner lid serves to prevent foreign material from dropping down onto the electrode terminals; and, when a binding operation is carried out, the binder is stably positioned in the container by the support of the inner lid, ensuring that the electrodes of the binder are securely in contact with the electrode terminals.

    • A paper supplying device includes a pair of opposite upper and lower paper supplying rollers, each having a hemicylindrical portion defining an increased frictional circumferential surface having a frictional force greater than the remaining surface of the respective roller. A rotation change over device drives the paper supplying rollers in changeable rotational directions between a regular rotational direction and a reverse rotational direction. A pair of upper and lower assist rollers are arranged with a bundle of manuscript sheets placed on a paper supplying tray therebetween. The assist rollers are rotated in the same direction synchronously with the paper supplying rollers. The order of supply of the manuscript sheets can be changed over between supply from an uppermost manuscript sheet in the bundle and supply from a lowermost manuscript sheet in the bundle.
