摘要： In an ethanol fermentation process in which an aqueous solution of fermentable sugar is converted by an ethanol-producing microorganism such as a yeast to a dilute aqueous solution of ethanol with the ethanol being present in the solution at a concentration which does not exceed a predetermined maximum level, an improvement is provided which comprises selectively sorbing ethanol present in the solution within a hydrophilic crystalline aluminosilicate ZSM-5 or HZSM-5 zeolite so that the non-sorbed ethanol present in the solution does not exceed the predetermined maximum level of concentration therein, and thereafter removing sorbed ethanol from the zeolite.

摘要： Steam stable aluminosilicate zeolite catalysts are prepared by calcining said zeolites at an elevated temperature below about 1100.degree. F. in a closed system having a limited amount of oxygen wherein said zeolite contains organic cations and/or is in intimate contact with a charring agent thereby converting a portion of said organic cations or charring agent to a carbonaceous deposit within the pores of said zeolite in an amount from about 1.5-15 wt. % based on the total weight of the catalyst. Such catalysts are highly useful in the conversion of oxygenates, e.g., methanol to hydrocarbon products.

摘要： The ion-exchange capacity and acid catalytic activity of a ZSM-5 type zeolite are increased by treatment of a physical mixture of the zeolite and an inorganic oxide with water in the presence of an alkali metal cation.Specifically, the catalyst is prepared by contacting a mixture of a crystalline zeolite having a silica to alumina ratio above 12 and a Constraint Index between about 1 and about 12, and a solid source of aluminum with liquid water in the presence of an activating amount of an alkali metal cation and under a combination of conditions including a temperature up to about 370.degree. C. for less than about an hour to about 100 hours to induce increased activity to the zeolite.

摘要： There is provided a process for activating a zeolite with an aluminum phosphate material. The process comprises hydrothermally treating an intimate mixture of the zeolite and an effective amount of aluminum phosphate activating agent in contact with an aqueous liquid phase under reaction conditions to increase the cracking activity of the mixture. Examples of zeolites which may be activated include low acidity zeolites such as boron-containing ZSM-5, boron-containing zeolite Beta and high silica ZSM-5. The aluminum phosphate may be in the form of a microporous, crystalline framework material such as AlPO.sub.4 -5.
