Example embodiments may decode two sets of encoded frames from an encoded audio signal. The two frame sets may be encoded using different encoding schemes. For example, the bit rate or coding mode may differ between the two encoded frame sets. Based on information from one of the decoded sets of frames, a context component included in a signal represented by the other frame set may be suppressed. Other embodiments may generate an audio context signal within the mobile user terminal, and mix the generated audio signal with another decoded audio signal.

Enhancing the context of a voice communication may first include suppressing an existing context component from the digital audio signal to obtain a context suppressed signal. This signal may then be mixed with a new context signal to create a context enhanced signal, which may then be encoded before transmission. When this new context enhanced signal includes a speech component, it may be encoded and transmitted at a particular bit rate. When the context enhanced signal does not include a speech component, it may also be encoded at a similar bit rate. However, depending on the state of a process control signal, portions of a digital audio signal that lack a speech component may also be transmitted at a lower bit rate.

    • Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate providing power control for intermediary access points in wireless networks, such as relay nodes. Parameters related to intermediary access point communications can be provided to a serving access point, and the serving access point can generate power adjustment values and related commands based at least in part on the parameters. The parameters can include load on the intermediary access point, signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) and/or similar parameters related to communications between the intermediary access points and/or one or more UEs, etc. In addition, end-to-end power control can be provided where intermediary access points report SINR to serving access points allowing serving access points to adjust downlink transmission power.

    • Systems, methods and apparatuses for reducing HARQ retransmissions using peak power management techniques are presented. In one example, a receiver may perform multi-level error correction for reducing HARQ retransmissions. The receiver may include a Peak to Average Power Ratio Management Module (PAPR MM) decoder configured to perform a first level of error correction utilizing retransmissions originating at a front end of a distal transmitter. The receiver may further include a symbol demapping module connected to the PAPR MM decoder, a deinterleaver connected to the symbol demapping module, and a decoder connected to the deinterleaver and the PAPR MM decoder, where the decoder may be configured to perform a second level of error correction utilizing retransmissions originating at a back end of a distal transmitter. A transmitter for reducing HARQ retransmissions using PAPR techniques is also presented.
