摘要： A variable compression ratio internal combustion engine is equipped with a variable compression ratio mechanism configured to change an engine compression ratio in accordance with a rotational position of a control shaft, and a housing that accommodates therein a drive motor for changing and holding the rotational position of the control shaft. A reference position of the control shaft is learned in a state where a position of maximum rotation of the control shaft in a first rotational direction has been mechanically restricted by bringing a first movable part, which operates in conjunction with the control shaft, into abutted-engagement with a first stopper provided outside of an engine body. Subsequently, a maximum conversion angle range of the control shaft is learned in a state where a position of maximum rotation of the control shaft in a second rotational direction has been mechanically restricted by a second stopper.

摘要： In a vehicle with an automatic transmission, an internal combustion engine is provided with a variable compression ratio mechanism. A target compression ratio of the variable compression ratio mechanism is determined based on a demand load and an engine rotation speed with reference to a compression ratio map. A reverse-drive compression ratio map is selected when the automatic transmission is in a reverse drive position; a first compression ratio map is selected when an actual speed reduction ratio of the transmission is low; and a second compression ratio map is selected when the actual speed reduction ratio of the transmission is high. A variable control range of the compression ratio is narrower in the second compression ratio map than in the first compression ratio map and is narrower in the reverse-drive compression ratio map than in the first and second compression ratio maps.

摘要： A variable compression ratio internal combustion engine is provided with a variable compression ratio mechanism in which a mechanical compression ratio of the internal combustion engine changes in accordance with a rotational position of a control shaft, a low compression ratio side stopper, a high compression ratio side stopper, a sensor for detecting a rotational position of a drive shaft of an actuator, and an arm press-fitted onto the drive shaft. Relative rotation between the arm and the drive shaft occurs when a torque exceeding an upper-limit torque has been applied. The drive shaft or the control shaft is caused to move to restriction positions restricted by the respective stoppers, and then a diagnosis on the presence or absence of the relative rotation is executed, based on the detected values at the respective restriction positions.

摘要： A fuel cut during deceleration is executed at time point t1. An oxygen storage amount (rOS) which increases with this fuel cut is estimated based on an exhaust air-fuel ratio and an intake air quantity. When the oxygen storage amount (rOS) reaches a threshold value (at time point t2), a target compression ratio (tCR) is corrected to become lower than a basic target compression ratio (tCR). Although a fuel recovery is executed at time point t4, a combustion temperature is lowered because of the lowering of the mechanical compression ratio, so that a production of NOx in a combustion chamber is suppressed. Therefore, worsening of NOx is suppressed even if the oxygen storage amount (rOS) of exhaust-emission purification catalyst (4) is excessive.

When the controller is switching the engine compression ratio from the high compression ratio to the low compression ratio, the controller starts switching the lock-up mechanism to the lock-up ON state when a current engine compression ratio is equal to or smaller than a permissible compression ratio which is between the high compression ratio and the low compression ratio.
