    • The present invention is first directed to a thermal transfer sheet which is not high in cost for obtaining a substrate, does not involve a problem of blocking or the like at the time of winding after coating of a backside layer onto the substrate, can eliminate the need to provide a release layer on the protective layer region, and further can enhance glossiness of a print with a protective layer. The thermal transfer sheet comprises a substrate, a dye layer of at least one color and a thermally transferable protective layer provided in a face serial manner on one side of the substrate, a protective layer provided on a part of one side of the substrate, an easy-adhesion layer provided on the whole surface of the protective layer and the substrate, the dye layer being provided on the easy-adhesion layer in its region where the protective layer is not located on the underside of the easy-adhesion layer. The second invention is directed to a thermal transfer sheet which can cope with increased printing speed in the thermal transfer, can meet demands for the provision of thermally transferred images having high density and high quality, can prevent the occurrence of abnormal transfer, cockles, etc., and can improve sensitivity in transfer at the time of printing. The thermal transfer sheet according to the second invention comprises a substrate, a heat-resistant slip layer provided on one side of the substrate, and an adhesive layer and a dye layer provided in that order on the other side of the substrate, the adhesive layer comprising a polyvinylpyrrolidone resin. By virtue of this construction, the sensitivity in transfer can be significantly improved at the time of thermal transfer, and a high-density thermally transferred image can be provided without applying high energy.

    • There is provided a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which has dyeability high enough to realize high-speed printing and low-energy printing, permits a protective layer to be thermally transferred onto an image formed on the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, is free from heat fusing to a thermal transfer sheet at the time of image formation on the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, and has satisfactory separability from the thermal transfer sheet. The thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprises: a substrate sheet; and a receptive layer provided on at least one side of the substrate sheet, said receptive layer comprising at least a combination of a cellulose ester resin (A) having a degree of acetylation of 10 to 30% with a cellulose ester resin (B) having a degree of acetylation of less than 6%, the total degree of acetylation of the cellulose ester resin (A) and the cellulose ester resin (B) being 8 to 14%, the content of hydroxyl groups in the cellulose ester resin (A) and the content of hydroxyl groups in the cellulose ester resin (B) each being not more than 6% by weight, the remaining hydroxyl groups having been esterified with an organic acid excluding acetic acid. By virtue of the above construction, the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet can realize printing of an image thereon with high dyeability at a high speed, has excellent separability from a thermal transfer sheet, is free from smudge and blurring derived from plasticizers, and permits a protective layer to be adhered onto the receptive layer.

    • It is an object of the present invention to provide a high performance and highly productive thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which solves drawbacks of the prior art, i.e., drawbacks such as the deterioration in sensitivity in using a pulp paper such as a coated paper as a substrate, and the reduction in productivity and the increase in cost in using a laminated and bonded sheet of a void-containing biaxially stretched film and a core material, is inexpensive, and can attain high-density and high-resolution images having no density irregularity and dot missing.A method of producing a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet in which at least an insulating layer 15 and an image-receiving layer 8 are formed in this order on a substrate 11, comprising the steps of melt-coextruding the insulating layer including a thermoplastic resin (A) and a resin or filler which is not compatible with the thermoplastic resin (A) and the receiving layer including a thermoplastic resin (B) to form a film, and then stretching this melt-coextruded film to form a layered body of a film, and then laminating the layered body on a substrate with the insulating layer side of the layered body faced with the substrate, wherein said image-receiving layer or a release layer provided on said image-receiving layer side of said layered body contains modified silicone oil and the void fraction of the insulating layer is 15 to 65%.

    • There is provided a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which has none of the offset of an antistatic agent, the transfer of the antistatic agent onto a carrier roll of a thermal printer or the like, a lowering in whiteness, glossiness, and sensitivity in printing of the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, and a remarkable lowering in coating strength under high-humidity environmental conditions and thus can realize stable and excellent antistatic properties. The thermal transfer image-receiving sheet comprises a substrate sheet and a dye-receptive layer provided on at least one side of the substrate sheet. An electrically conductive layer is provided as at least one layer between the substrate sheet and the receptive layer, or as at least one layer on the substrate sheet in its side remote from the receptive layer. The electrically conductive layer comprises electrically conductive synthetic phyllosilicate. By virtue of the incorporation of the electrically conductive synthetic phyllosilicate in the electrically conductive layer, the electrically conductive layer has good adhesion to the substrate sheet and other layers and has high glossiness, and the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is free from a change in physical properties such as coating strength upon a change in environmental conditions and has excellent antistatic properties.
