    • An automatic focusing device in accordance with the present invention comprises an image sensor being subjected to exposure performed in a rolling shutter system, a focusing system including a focus lens for focusing on the image sensor, an AF evaluation value calculating unit calculating an AF evaluation value based on an imaging signal obtained from the image sensor, and an AF control unit controlling an operation of the focusing system based on an AF evaluation value of a focusing area set in a part of the imaging picture by the image sensor, and the AF control unit makes the AF evaluation value of a focusing area of each imaging picture and a focus lens position at the time of exposure for the focusing area correspond to each other, and drives the focusing system during the period which overlaps with an exposure period while searching the focus lens position where the AF evaluation value becomes maximum.

    • An imaging apparatus includes an imager which acquires an image signal of a subject. A first filter processer performs a filer process on a luminance signal included in the image signal in a focus area. A second filter processor performs a filter process on the luminance signal included in the image signal in the focus area and to which a cutoff frequency different from the cutoff frequency of the first filter processor is set. A first determiner determines whether or not a point light source is included in the subject. A calculator calculates an evaluation value from the luminance signal included in the image signal in the focus area. A focuser performs focus control based on the evaluation value. When it is determined that the point light source is included in the subject, the calculator calculates the evaluation value based on outputs of the first and second filter processor.

    • An electronic camera includes an imaging device. The imaging device has an imaging surface irradiated with an optical image of an object scene that undergoes a focus lens, and outputs an object scene image produced on the imaging surface. A CPU predicts a focus direction based on a focus position registered in a register when a shutter button is half-depressed. The CPU also changes a position of the focus lens by referencing a prediction result of the focus direction, and based on the object scene image outputted from the imaging device in parallel with this change process, adjusts the position of the focus lens to the focus position. The CPU further registers the adjusted position of the focus lens, as the focus position, into the register.
