    • An intraosseous delivery apparatus having a drill coupling member and a drilling needle member. The drill coupling member includes a shaft, an open housing provided at one end of the shaft, a connecting portion provided at an opposite end of the shaft for establishing a connection to a conventional dental drill, and an anticlog needle extending from the shaft through the open housing. The drilling needle member includes a drilling needle housing and a hollow drilling needle shaft extending therefrom. The drilling needle member is adapted to be removably engaged with the drill coupling member such that the drilling needle housing of the drilling needle member is inserted into the open housing of the drill coupling member and such that the anticlog needle of the drill coupling member is inserted into the hollow drilling needle shaft of the drilling needle member. The drilling needle housing of the drilling needle member and the open housing of the drill coupling member are shaped so that a bone penetration force may be applied therebetween for drilling a hole in a bone to insert the drilling needle member therein when the drilling needle member and the drill coupling member are engaged. The hollow drilling needle shaft is adapted to receive a needle of a syringe when the drilling needle member and the drill coupling member are disengaged and the drilling needle member is left inserted in the hole drilled in the bone, so that a reusable communication path through the hollow drilling needle shaft directly into the hole drilled in the bone is established through which fluid may be repeatedly injected.

The outer housing also contains a gear which is engaged with a gear at the end of the drive shaft mechanism, a working member being connected to the gear for being driven by the drive shaft member. The drive shaft member is connectable to the dental tool for being driven thereby. Also disclosed are embodiments wherein the drive shaft mechanism is connected to the dental drive tool, and wherein the outer housing is independently connected to the dental drive tool by means of a quick connect-quick disconnect mechanism, which locks the outer housing relative to the dental drive tool in both the longitudinal and circumferential directions.

    • An intraosseous delivery apparatus having a drilling member and a sleeve member. The drilling member includes a drill housing, a connecting portion for establishing a connection to a conventional dental drilling apparatus, and a drill extending from the drill housing. The sleeve member includes a sleeve housing, and a hollow sleeve extending from the sleeve housing. The sleeve housing is adapted to be removably engaged with the drill housing such that the drill is inserted into the hollow sleeve. The drill has a length such that when the drill is inserted into the hollow sleeve, a portion of the drill extends beyond the hollow sleeve. As a result, when the drill is used to drill a hole in bone, the drill is inserted deeper into the hole than the hollow sleeve. The hollow sleeve is adapted to be left inserted in the bone when the drill is removed therefrom. The “in place” hollow sleeve is also adapted to receive a syringe needle through which anesthesia may be directly introduced into the bone via an exposed bottom portion of the drilled hole as well as via exposed side-wall portions of the drilled hole. The drill is preferably smooth, and may also be hollow so that debris generated during drilling enters the interior of the drill. In this case, when the hollow drill is removed from the hollow sleeve, the debris within the hollow drill may also be removed

    • A rotary dental drive tool has a rotatable driving member which is connected to a working tool via a self-tightening chuck, the rotatable driving member rotating in a clockwise direction during use. The chuck includes a chuck member having a tool-engaging internal surface portion for receiving a working tool therein, the chuck member having a tapered outer surface portion which is engageable with a tapered inner surface portion of the rotatable driving member so as to press the tool-engaging internal surface portion of the chuck member against the working tool to fixedly engage the working tool with said rotatable driving member via the chuck member. The chuck member has a left-hand threaded screw member on an outer surface portion thereof, which is engageable with a left-hand threaded screw portion on an inner surface portion of the rotatable driving member. The chuck member is rotatable in a left-hand threaded manner into the screw threaded portion of the rotatable driving member so as to cause the tapered surfaces to mutually engage and press the tool-engaging surface portion of the chuck member against the working tool responsive to rotation of the rotatable driving member, whereby the chuck member automatically self-tightens against the working tool during operation of the dental drive tool, and the working tool rotates with the rotatable driving member.
