    • A data storage device that can be reversibly associated with one or more of a plurality of hosts. A “trusted” host on which the device is mounted is allowed access to a secure data area of the device automatically, without the user having to enter a password. Ways in which a host is designated as “trusted” include storing the host's ID in a trusted host list of the device, storing a representation of the host's ID that was encrypted using a trust key of the device in a cookie in the host, or storing a storage password of the device in a password list of the host. Alternatively, an untrusted host is allowed access to the secure data area if a user enters a correct user password.

    • To authorize a transaction between a host and a server, a token is operationally connected to the host. The host receives an identification credential of a user. The identification credential is verified by the token and/or by the server. If the token detects a prescribed human action, the token generates token authentication data and the host sends the token authentication data to the server. Upon receiving the authentication data, the server authenticates the transaction. A device for authenticating a transaction includes a device interface for interacting with a host, a connector for reversibly operationally connecting the device to the host, and a controller that authenticates the transaction only once, contingent on detecting a prescribed anonymous human action. One such human action is providing one or more inputs at the host's user interface synchronously with outputs at the device's user interface.

    • A digital appliance, such as a digital camera, an MP3 player or a digital voice recorder, uses a memory card to store data. The appliance and the card use USB interfaces for appliance-card communication. When the appliance is connected to a host computer directly or via a passive USB cable, a switch within the appliance automatically establishes host-card communication for reading and/or writing data. In another embodiment, the switch can also connect the host to the appliance for configuration or operation. In another embodiment, the memory card temporarily stores data to be exchanged between the host and the appliance.

    • Methods, apparatus, systems and devices for facilitating transfer of a remote session from a first user terminal to a second user terminal are disclosed herein. According to one example, the transferred remote session is a telephone call session. According to another example, the transferred remote session is a session of a rights-enabled remote on-demand service—for example, a service where on demand media content is remotely provided or an interactive game service. In some embodiments, data indicative of usage rights for the remote service is transferred from the first to the second user terminal. In some embodiments, in order to transfer the session between the first terminal and second terminal, the user terminals are brought in proximity or into contact, and data indicative of the session is sent via a short-range communications channel, for example a short-range contact or ‘wired’ channel, or a short-range wireless link, for example, a Bluetooth or infrared link.
