摘要： Provided are a system and method for determining a position based on portable Internet in a portable Internet system. The method includes receiving, by the terminal, information on neighbor base stations (BSs) from a main BS, scanning the neighbor BSs while measuring Received Signal Strength Indicators (RSSIs) for the main BS and the neighbor BSs, determining whether the RSSI for the main BS is greater than a preset threshold value, and deciding, as a position of the terminal, a position associated with an IDentification (ID) of the main BS when the RSSI is greater than the threshold value.

The server provides a search engine necessary to search for data requested by a mobile terminal and share the requested data. A mobile user has to download and install the search engine provided from the server in order to search for desired data in other subscribers' mobile terminals using SMS. The user can effectively search for the desired data using SMS and share the data without any separate communication fee.
