    • A fuel cell assembly for using hydrogen gas and oxygen to produce electrical energy. The cathode of the fuel cell produces water vapor to define a flow of moist air including water vapor. A dehumidifier receives the flow of moist air including water vapor to produce purified liquid water and a flow of dehumidified air. The dehumidifier has an air inlet having a first cross-sectional area and an air outlet having a larger second cross-sectional area. The diffuser cavity of the dehumidifier progressively increases in size from the air inlet to the air outlet for depressurizing and cooling the flow of moist air including water vapor below the dew point of the moist air including water vapor to condense the water vapor on the housing of the dehumidifier.

    • In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method for tuning queries for a multi-tenant database system is provided. A processor retrieves actual statistics associated with data stored on one or more servers in the multi-tenant database system. The data may be associated with one or more tenants of the multi-tenant database system. A subset of the actual statistics is selected, wherein the subset of the actual statistics is related to tenants having a data trait targeted for optimization. The processor determines synthetic statistics based on the subset of the actual statistics. An original query is received at the multi-tenant database system, wherein the original query operates upon data associated with a tenant that has the data trait targeted for optimization. The processor determines an optimal query plan based on the original query and synthetic statistics. Finally, the processor executes the original query based on the optimal query plan.

    • A bar code scanner which preferably generates an asterisk-like scan pattern has a scanner head at the end of a flexible mount enabling operator personnel to orient the scanner head in virtually any position and direction. The scan pattern generator is compact in size, utilizing a laser diode as a source, so that the scan head is easily manipulated to the desired position. In preferred embodiments the scanning mechanism generates the asterisk scan pattern with a rotating mirror or mirrors and a series of peripheral mirrors or lenses, one for each scan line, in an efficient and compact arrangement. The entire asterisk scan pattern may be constantly rotated at a relatively slow rate, so that bar code labels are more likely to be read without deliberate orientation by the operator, particularly in the case of bar codes of high aspect ratio.

    • A book, such as a loose-leaf binder, containing pages for writing thereon, has a rigid back cover with a hanger at the top edge thereof, and an underlying prop flap hinged to the bottom edge thereof and providing a free edge for engaging a wall, door or the like upstanding support surface to hold the book in a desk simulating position when the hanger is suspended from the surface to thereby present the pages in a comfortable writing position. The hanger is preferably an elongated downwardly opening channel strip secured along the top edge of the back cover to mate with an upwardly opening channel strip secured on the door, wall or the like. The book preferably has a rigid front cover which is also equipped with a similar downwardly opening channel strip to mate in the door or wall mounted strip thereby holding the book in rigid opened position so that both sides of pages may be presented for writing. A second prop flap on the front cover is not necessary. The book desk is especially useful in the form of a loose-leaf ring binder serving as a patient's record book in hospitals where the book may be kept in a patient's supply cabinet in the patient's room and easily and quickly mounted on a door of the cabinet to provide a desk for use by the doctor or other hospital personnel in entering records. The pages are removed from the binder to form a permanent hospital record when the patient is discharged and the binder is then available for the records of successive patients occupying the room.
