    • This invention discloses a method and system for preparing for setting up a multimedia session between two terminals in a multimedia internetworking system, the method comprises receiving a call setup message by the gateway controller module from a first terminal for setting up the multimedia session with a second terminal, exchanging at least one call reference between the gateway controller module and gateway module based on the call setup message for identifying the multimedia session, exchanging one or more session setup messages through a communication tunnel between the gateway module and gateway controller module for allocating resources for the multimedia session with the call reference including a predetermined location within the session setup messages for containing session information, and initiating the multimedia session between the first and second terminals with the allocated resources.

    • The present invention discloses a switch method ensuring communication continuity, mainly including: when a switch occurs to an Mobile Station (MS), the MSC Server controlling the MGW establishing in a context a new termination connected with a new ground circuit; after the MS switching to a new wireless channel, the MGW controlling the new termination inheriting a resource channel from an original termination connected with an original ground circuit and continuing with the communications through the resource channel. The method of the present invention solves the problem of interruption in an announcement service, a data service and a QNC service caused by a switch process and the communication continuity during a switch procedure is ensured.

    • A method for transferring test messages includes a Network Element (NE) A and NE B negotiating and determining a logical channel type. The Link Management Protocol (LMP) entity of NE A constructs a test message packet which includes the local Ethernet data interface ID, and transfers the test message packet to the local packet control module. The packet control module of NE A encapsulates the test message packet according to the logical channel type determined through negotiation, and transfers the encapsulated packet to the local transmitting interface. The receiving interface of NE B identifies and receives the packet. The packet control module of NE B obtains the packet from the local receiving interface and then encapsulates the packet. Next the packet control module of NE B transfers the test message packet obtained after decapsulation to the local LMP entity. Therefore, the test message can be transferred on the Ethernet data interface, and the auto discovery of the Ethernet physical link of the NE device succeeds once the test message is transferred successfully.
