    • Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed to provide for wireless resource sharing between heterogeneous wireless networks to enable coexistence in a TV band white space. An example embodiment of the invention includes a method, comprising the steps of: registering coexistence information services to a wireless network, wherein decisions concerning operational parameters of the wireless network are made by a wireless device belonging to the wireless network; determining that the wireless network has one or more neighboring wireless networks; receiving a satisfaction level indication for the wireless network, the satisfaction level indication representing how satisfied the wireless network is with current communication resources; and notifying one or more network controllers serving the one or more neighboring wireless networks of the registered service type and the satisfaction level indication of the wireless network.

    • Method, apparatus, and computer program product enable devices to advertise an existing connection to other devices so that they can synchronize to the connection and listen to the information exchanged, in a listen-only mode. In example embodiments, after a slave device has joined a piconet by completing a connection with a master device using for example the Bluetooth Low Energy protocol, the slave device possesses all of the information needed to advertise the existing connection to other devices so that they can synchronize to the connection and listen to the information exchanged, in a listen-only mode. The slave device may assume the role of an advertiser of the existing connection and may begin transmitting an advertising channel packet/PDU to inform third party devices about the existing connection. When a third party device receives such an advertising channel packet, it may adopt the connection parameters from the packet and synchronize to the existing connection to start receiving packets in the connection, in a receive-only mode.

Example embodiments include a new operational sequence for wireless devices initiating the use of an ad hoc network. The example embodiments require appropriately enabled wireless devices to only respond to probe request frames from other similarly appropriately enabled wireless devices. In this manner, two devices may avoid the time consuming effort of combining two different ad hoc networks into a single ad hoc network so that the two devices can communicate.
