    • Systems and methods for managing telecommunication services using proximity-based technologies are described. In some embodiments, a method may include detecting, by a first communication device (e.g., a laptop computer, a netbook computer, a tablet computer, a cellular phone, a smartphone, etc.), a proximity device (e.g., a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tag, a Near Field Communications (NFC) tag, etc.) coupled to or integrated within a second communication device. The method may also include triggering an operation configured to manage a telecommunication service based, at least in part, upon the detection of the proximity device. In some implementations, the operation may be configured to reduce a number of manual operations that would otherwise be involved in managing the telecommunication service. For instance, in a non-limiting example, the operation may cause a routing of a communication directed at the first communication device to the second communication device. Numerous other telecommunication services are described herein.

    • Methods, systems, and computer readable media for providing legacy devices access to a session initiation protocol (SIP) based network are disclosed. One exemplary system comprises a session initiation protocol (SIP) based access proxy element communicatively coupled to a SIP based network that includes a registration engine configured to create a mapped entry in a database that associates an assigned SIP registration identifier to an identifier corresponding to a legacy endpoint device and configured to register the legacy endpoint device into the SIP based network using the assigned SIP registration identifier. The SIP based access proxy element further includes a session management module configured to establish a communications session involving the registered legacy endpoint device by interworking between a legacy control protocol and a SIP based call control protocol using the mapped entry in the database.

    • A predetermined electrical circuit pattern or discrete features composed of discrete, electrically conducting metal pathways and non-conducting spaces therebetween is formed on a dielectric substrate by(1) depositing a continuous layer of an electrically conducting metal on a surface of the substrate,(2) contacting the metal layer with a mask head defining a system of ridges and valleys therein, the ridges corresponding to the pathways of the target electrical circuitry pattern or discrete features and the valleys corresponding to the spaces of the target pattern, the ridges in the mask head contacting the metal layer in sealing arrangement with the portions of the metal layer coming into contact with the ridges, and(3) contacting the metal layer with an etchant to remove the portions of the metal layer in the spaces and thereby form the target electrical circuitry or discrete features pattern.

    • A communications system that supports multimedia components is easily adapted to existing network elements. Voice components arriving at or coming from a user having multimedia capabilities are referred from a telephony server serving the user to a multimedia server. A determination is made as to whether the other party supports multimedia capabilities. If that determination is negative, the component is passed back to the telephony server with an indication that the session is coming from the multimedia server to avoid an infinite loop. If the determination is positive, a parallel multimedia component is established between the parties while the multimedia server remains aware of the bearer path.
