    • A road simulator for testing components of automobiles using a wheel assembly, including a tire that is to be loaded by simulation of actual road forces. A low mass flexible web harness is placed over the tire and has web extensions loaded in tension in at least one lateral direction for simulating forces transmitted to the tire at the tire patch without having any substantial mass applied to the tire. High strength, low mass webs are used for the loading link and harness, such as a nylon, Aramid fibers , or carbon filament materials. The harness permits simulating very closely the actual friction forces on a tire, particularly in relation to lateral direction loading without having test fixture mass affect the test.

    • A wood carving attachment that mounts onto a table saw provides a carriage for holding a pattern, and a workpiece that will be engaged by the circular saw blade to duplicate the pattern configuration on the workpiece. The pattern and workpiece are mounted on opposite ends of a carriage that pivots about an rocker axis generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the saw blade, and also is movable in direction along the axis and at the same time the pattern and the workpiece are both rotated about axes generally parallel to the rotational axis of the saw blade. A tracer wheel riding against the pattern will cause the carriage to be tilted about its rocker axis of the support as the pattern is moved along the rocker axis and rotated against the follower wheel so that by movement of the carriage the surface configuration of the pattern is duplicated by the saw blade engaging the workpiece. The pattern tracer wheel is on the opposite side of the rocker axis from the saw blade and controls the movement of the workpiece relative to the saw blade as guided.

    • A lathe work center device centers a workpiece about an axis of rotation on a lathe. The lathe has two tool centers with at least one tool center being driven and both tool centers coaxially positioned about the axis of rotation. The work center device includes a substantially flat main ring portion having an outer periphery. A plurality of spurs integral with the main ring portion project toward and are embedded within the workpiece. The spurs are positioned on a side of the ring portion that is adjacent to the workpiece, proximate the outer periphery. A centering portion integral with the main ring portion projects outwardly therefrom on a side of the main ring portion opposite the spurs. Preferably, the centering portion has a frusto conical configuration and engages the tip of a tool center, locating the workpiece about the axis of rotation. A plurality of lugs proximate the outer periphery engage cooperating slots in the driven tool center for rotating the workpiece.

    • A reciprocating sheet feeder for feeding sheet material into a press, such as a deep draw cupping press. The sheet feeder comprises a rocking or pivoting framework that has gripper means thereon for gripping the edges of the sheet to be fed and when the frame is rocked about its pivot axis, moving a length of the sheet into the press and then releasing the sheet prior to a return stroke for the rocking feeder.The grips of the rocking feeder thus reciprocate during use. The feeder is used in combination with edge guides that are positioned ahead of the grips with respect to the direction of movement of the sheet so that the sheet is primarily guided while under tension. The pivoting frame is made so that it does not have substantial strength in torsion or in lateral directions of the sheet, so that the sheet essentially guides the frame during the feeding stroke to avoid buckling or misguiding the sheet. The framework does have rigidity needed for moving the sheet in its longitudinal direction.
