摘要： A method and apparatus for providing and using a variable format, configuration and location keyboard image which enables a digitizing device to present a different keyboard configuration and/or location to each user so that detection by an unauthorized viewer of a personal identification number (PIN) or other secret identification number during entry will become significantly more difficult. The presentation may include a random or scrambled keyboard entry image for each customer, and a single or set of customer preselected images that will be tied to the customer's account number which is read from the magnetic strip on a personal card. In addition to the keyboard, the device provides a single write surface for capturing a signature entry so that the two security features are incorporated in a single device.

摘要： A handwriting capture device which employs an insertable form interface over a digitizer to minimize or eliminate the need for a display. The form may include a menu corresponding to a repetitive task, a keypad, or a place for a signature. The form may be removable as a receipt, work order, invoice, or other document. The handwriting capture device also includes a housing having a top surface and a recess within the top surface, a frame for holding the form in the recess in the top surface, and circuitry for processing information entered into the digitizer. A display of minimal size may be added when the form is permanent and reusable to display signature and user prompts.

摘要： An electronic checkbook and method for using it. The checkbook comprises upper and lower parts which fold together when not in use. The lower part receives on its upper surface a booklet of checks. A digitizer is hingedly connected or fixed to the remainder of the lower part and operates as a keyboard in one mode when placed above the check booklet, and can be placed beneath the top check of the booklet and used in a second mode as a means for inputting signals to the remainder of the device representing information written on the check. The lower part of the checkbook also includes other elements of the device including a microprocessor, a power supply and a smart card reader/writer. The upper part includes a display screen upon which checking account information appears during use of the electronic checkbook. The method of use of the checkbook provides maintenance of a record of transactions in the account, including addition of deposits and subtraction of checks drawn on the account.
