摘要： An open-bolt firing conversion for the standard M16 rifle, which allows the rifle to be converted to open-bolt firing by replacement of parts and without otherwise altering the rifle. The open-bolt conversion is hammer-fired for reliability and preservation of the cyclic firing rate, and the conversion hammer straddles the conversion sear within the conventional M16 lower receiver. The open-bolt converted rifle can fire either semiautomatic or full-automatic under control of the conventional firing selector lever.The cyclic rate reducer is installed in a conventional M16 rifle, without further modification to the rifle, to lower the automatic fire cyclic rate to approximately 350 rounds per minute. The cyclic rate reducer includes an actuator assembly which is received behind a modified bolt carrier, and which is released to move forward and contact an automatic sear release only after the bolt carrier has completed at least a substantial portion of its forward movement. The actuator assembly includes provision for preventing the actuator assembly from bouncing rearwardly at the time of weapon recoil, before the gas-actuated rearward movement of the bolt carrier.The variable vector muzzle compensator receives the high-pressure gases at the muzzle of a firearm, and channels these gases to provide a force vector in a selected direction perpendicular to the line of fire. The direction of the gas force vector can be adjusted to accommodate a particular shooter, and the compensator is particularly effective to reduce muzzle climb in fully-automatic firearms.The multiple magazine apparatus includes a number of magazines bracketed together in a semi-permanent assembly, so that each loaded magazine is ready for insertion into a firearm as soon as the preceding magazine is emptied. Each individual magazine has provision for preventing the top round of the magazines not in the receiver housing from being dislodged when the firearm and the multiple magazine assembly recoil during firing. An auxiliary catch is provided to retain the magazines of the magazine assembly on the receiver of the firearm.The night sight apparatus is easily and removably attachable to a conventional M16 rifle without replacement or modification of the conventional sights, and provides a luminous sighting reference for shooting during low levels of ambient light.

摘要： A buffer assembly for use with firearms such as the M-16 rifle, for reducing the cyclic rate of firing in full-automatic operation. The buffer assembly includes a unit of length selected to stop the bolt carrier at the desired full-recoil position, and a mass movable relative to that unit. When the bolt carrier stops at full-recoil, inertia causes the mass to continue moving rearwardly while further compressing the action spring. The action spring then returns that mass forwardly to contact the fixed portion of the buffer assembly, returning the bolt carrier to battery position. The bolt carrier remains at rest in recoil while the moveable weight slides rearwardly and then returns forwardly relative to the bolt carrier, thereby increasing the cycle time of firing and correspondingly reducing the cyclic rate of fire for the firearm.

The gas piston and bolt carrier assembly are supported for recoil movement along a single guide rod which extends the entire length of the gun, permitting a longer recoil path resulting in reduced impulse due to recoil. The guide rod has a noncircular or radially-assymmetrical cross-section mating with a corresponding opening in the gas piston, so that the bolt carrier assembly remains in alignment over the entire recoil path. Separate close-bolt and open-bolt embodiments are disclosed, and the open-bolt embodiment is selectively capable of firing either semi-automatic or full-automatic while permitting reliable cartridge feeding from a box or drum magazine.

Each blade has a number of locking studs on one side of the blade, and a corresponding number of mating locking dimples on the other side of the blade. The blades are pivotally mounted on an axle about which the blades can be rotated either to the folded position with all blades stacked one above the other, or to the throwing position wherein the blades radiate outwardly from the axle. The studs and complementary dimples of adjacent blades engage one another in the folded and the throwing positions so as to secure the knife in such positions.

摘要： Apparatus for converting a firearm of a first caliber to fire cartridges of a second caliber. The regular bolt assembly of the firearm is removed and replaced with a conversion bolt assembly having a flat receiver plate which is bifurcated to provide a pair of flat rails. A bolt assembly is supported for movement along the rails, out of contact with the receiver of the firearm. The receiver plate of the conversion bolt assembly extends forwardly from a backplate which accurately locates the conversion assembly within the firearm, and the receiver plate is tilted to clear the conventional ejection port of the firearm. The conversion bolt assembly includes an automatic sear trip which enables full-automatic firing of second caliber cartridges on firearms that are so equipped, and also includes a weight for improved full-automatic operation. The disclosed embodiment is designed for use with an M-16 or AR-15 rifle.Also disclosed is a cartridge magazine having an elongated channel to receive a plurality of cartridges in a single column and in staggered relation to each other. The rim of each cartridge in the channel is laterally offset in relation to the immediately adjacent cartridges. The cartridge receiving channel is curved forwardly on a radius in front of the magazine, so that cartridges have the same relation to each other in the magazine irrespective of magazine length or the number of cartridges received therein.
