    • The present invention provides a process for cross-linking organopolysiloxanes by means of a bis-benzoyl peroxide derivative with heating, wherein, as bis-benzoyl peroxide derivative, there is used at least one compound of the general formula: ##STR1## in which the symbols R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5, each independently of one another, have the following meanings: R.sup.1 and R.sup.5 are the same or different and signify alkoxycarbonyl radicals with 2 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety or fluorine or hydrogen atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 are the same or different and signify alkyl radicals with 2 to 8 carbon atoms or hydrogen atoms and R.sup.3 signifies an alkyl radical with 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, at least 2 symbols and at most 4 symbols per benzene ring signifying hydrogen atoms.The present invention also provides an agent for carrying out this process which consists essentially of silicone oil in which is contained, in finely divided form, 10 to 80% by weight of at least one compound of general formula (I).

    • A process for the preparation of aralkyl hydroperoxides having the formula (I) is described ##STR1## in which n=1, 2 or 3, Ar means a phenyl group which can be substituted with halogen or one or more branched or straight chain alkyl groups with 1 to 5 C-atoms, or a naphthyl group, and each radical R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 means a low alkyl radical, the alkyl radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, by reaction of aralkyl carbinols having the formula (II) ##STR2## in which Ar, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and n have the meaning given for formula (I), with hydrogen peroxide under acid conditions, the reaction being carried out in the presence of an acid-combining agent. An alkali sulphate, ammonium sulphate, alkali hydrogen sulphate and/or ammonium hydrogen sulphate is used in preference as the acid-combining agent. Tert.aralkyl hydroperoxides can be prepared in high yield with a high purity in a simple and safe manner with this process.

    • The present invention provides a master batch composition based on elastomeric carriers, comprising an organic peroxide, a plasticizer and a filling material and optionally further additives compatible with the organic peroxide, wherein, in addition to the elastomeric carrier, it contains a polyoctenamer.The present invention also provides a process for the production of a master batch composition, wherein (a) the elastomeric carrier, the polyoctenamer, the plasticizer and optionally a part of the filling material or filling material mixture are homogeneously mixed and thereafter (b) the filling material or the filling material mixture or possibly the remaining amounts thereof, together with the organic peroxide, are incorporated at a temperature below the decomposition temperature of the peroxide.On the basis of its properties and of the simple and reliable production thereof, the master batch composition according to the present invention is very suitable as a modification agent and especially as a cross-linking initiator for the further working up of elastomeric mixtures.
