    • Systems and methods for remote endarterectomy are disclosed. In an embodiment, a device for remote endarterectomy includes an elongated member, having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween; an endarterectomy unit at the distal end of the elongated member formed by a first member engaged to a second member in a substantial secure alignment with the second member, wherein the endarterectomy unit has a circumferential enclosure configured to separate a plaque core from a blood vessel and an open region surrounded by the enclosure and configured to receive the separated plaque core therethrough; and an actuator coupled to the proximal end of the elongated member for translating the first member relative to the second member across the open space to transect the plaque core received in the open space.

    • Medical vascular catheters adapted to be inserted into a blood vessel from an incision through the skin of a patient for introducing other devices or fluids for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes into the patient's vasculature and manufacturing methods are disclosed. The catheters have a unitary catheter hub and strain relief formed at the proximal end of the catheter body for attachment to other apparatus and for inhibiting kinking of the catheter body. The unitary catheter hub and strain relief is formed of a proximal hub portion and a distal strain relief coil surrounding the catheter body in a catheter hub/body junction. The distal strain relief coil is shaped as a distally tapered, single coil to provide distally increasing flexibility and uniform bending characteristics in 36.degree. around the circumference of the catheter body received within the within the strain relief coil lumen. The strain relief coil is optionally formed with blends of materials selected to distally increase the distal strain relief bending flexibility.
