    • A novel magnetic recording medium is provided comprising a non-magnetic support having provided thereon a magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder, wherein at least one fatty acid amide compound represented by formula (I), at least one fatty acid ester represented by formula (II) and at least one fatty acid ester represented by formula (III) are provided in or on the magnetic layer: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a C.sub.13-21 straight-chain saturated hydrocarbon group; ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 represents a C.sub.12-21 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; and R.sup.3 represents a C.sub.1-10 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; ##STR3## wherein R.sup.4 represents a C.sub.12-21 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; R.sup.5 represents a C.sub.2-3 divalent hydrocarbon group; R.sup.6 represents a C.sub.1-10 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; and n represents an integer of from 1 to 10 where n may be the same or different when the magnetic layer contains two or more compounds represented by formula (III).

    • A process for producing a magnetic recording medium which comprises a step of kneading a ferromagnetic powder with a binder in the presence of a solvent, a step of dispersing the resulting blend with the binder and/or solvent, and a step of coating the resulting magnetic coating composition on a nonmagnetic support followed by drying;Wherein said step of kneading is carried out by kneading a ferromagnetic powder having a particle size of not more than 350 .ANG. with a glycidyl compound and a binder comprising at least a vinyl chloride copolymer having an OH- terminated side chain bonded via an organic group and also having a polar group and/or a solvent; said binder, polyurethane resin, and solvent being used in a total amount of from 40 to 70 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said ferromagnetic powder; and wherein said step of dispersing is carried out in the presence of additional polyurethane resin having a polar group and/or solvent.

    • A magnetic recording medium is disclosed, which comprises a non-magnetic support having provided thereon a magnetic layer mainly composed of a ferromagnetic powder and a binder resin comprising (i) a polymer having at least one polar group selected from --SO.sub.3 M.sup.1, --OSO.sub.3 M.sup.1, --COOM.sup.1, ##STR1## wherein M.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, Li, Na or NR.sub.4 (wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, or an alkanol group), and M.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, Li, Na, an alkyl group, or NR.sub.4 (wherein R has the same significance as defined above); or (ii) a compound having at least one polar group selected from --SO.sub.3 M.sup.3, --COOM.sup.3, and --PO.sub.3 (M.sup.3).sub.2 (wherein M.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, or an ammonium group) and containing at least one carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in the molecule, said magnetic layer containing at least one ester compound represented by following formula (I), (II), or (III), and when the binder resin comprises the compound (ii), the magnetic layer is irradiated by radiations: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 represents a straight chain or branched alkyl group having from 7 to 29 carbon atoms or a straight chain or branched alkenyl group having from 7 to 29 carbon atoms; l, k, m, and n represents an integer; l and n each is at least 2, and the sum of n and m and the sum of k and l are from 7 to 33.
