    • There are discolsed a pesticidal composition containing a water-insoluble alginate, which is prepared by treating a solid composition containing (a) a pesticidally active ingredient which is a pest-controlling active ingredient or a plant growth-regulating active ingredient and (b) an alginic acid or a water-soluble alginate with an aqueous solution containing a divalent or polyvalent cation which can convert said alginic acid or water-soluble alginate into a water-insoluble alginate. Also disclosed is a pesticidal composition containing a water-insoluble alginate, which is prepared by coating a solid substance containing the pesticidally active ingredient with a water-insoluble alginate. The composition of the invention has excellent sustained-release effects of the pesticidally active ingredient.

    • There is disclosed an insect growth regulator composition comprising (a) an insect growth-regulating active ingredient and, if necessary, another insecticidal active ingredient, (b) an organic substance having a solubility of not greater than 2% in water at 20.degree. C. and a melting point of 35.degree. through 100.degree. C., and (c) a glycol selected from the group having a melting point of 35.degree. through 100.degree. C. and consisting of polyethylene glycol, polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene glycol, polyoxyethylene polyoxybutylene glycol, and polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene polyoxybutylene glycol, wherein the weight of the constituent (b) is equal to or greater than 3% based on the total weight, and a sum of the weight of the constituent (b) and the weight of the constituent (c) ranges from 20 to 98% based on the total weight, the constituent (b) and the constituent (c) being molten and then cooled to be solidified in manufacturing process of the insect growth regulator composition. The composition of the invention is the labor- and cost-saving composition because it releases an active ingredient gradually, and exterminates harmful and/or offensive pests and prevent the breeding thereof in water systems over a long time.

    • The present invention provides a technique for, in the case in which a failure has occurred in a shared memory, controlling a period of a pseudo through operation to reduce a period in which performance of a disk array device falls. Control information is divided into management information, which is required to be duplexed, and directory information, which is only required to simplexed, and the management information and the directory information are stored in separate shared memories. In the case in which a failure has occurred in the shared memory of an expanded memory unit (Option) storing the directory information, the directory information is reestablished in the shared memory of a basic memory unit (Basic). The pseudo through operation is cancelled at the point when the directory information is reestablished. After a package of the expanded memory unit is replaced with a normal product, the directory information is reestablished again. Management information managed in the other cluster is copied to the shared memory of the basis memory unit to complete maintenance and recovery work.
