    • A hydraulic bending machine comprises a reciprocating connector fitted symmetrically with a pair of roller holders having inner and outer rollers rotatably attached to the end portions thereof, respectively. In these inner and outer rollers to abut against a workpiece, the outer rollers have a diameter larger than that of the inner rollers. A guide block is disposed forward in the extending direction of the connector. When the connector extends, the workpiece is held between the rollers of the respective roller holders and the guide block. When the connector further extends, then the roller holders rock around their rocking centers, and the workpiece, pushed by the inner and outer rollers, is bent around the guide block. Since the diameter of the outer rollers is larger than that of the inner rollers, the workpiece is bent further by the outer rollers than by the inner rollers. Thus, there may be maintained a desired bending angle even with the restoring force applied to the workpiece after bending.

    • Disclosed is a method and machine for digging a ditch for use in, for example, duct disposition therein. In the floors and walls of a concrete structure, for example, three preparatory ditches or channels are dug by means of rotary blades. By inserting a breaking rod into a central one of the channels and causing it to vibrate substantially perpendicular to the channel to strike partition walls between the channels, the partition walls are readily broken or fractured, at which time the outermost channels serve as escapement spaces for permitting reception therein of the partition walls about to be bent or broken. Thereafter, the resultant partition wall pieces are removed, whereby a desired form of ditch is obtained. The partition wall fracturing steps may be carried out simultaneously with the channel digging or cutting step, or may alternatively be carried out independently after completion of the latter step.

    • An underwater pump which comprises an engine received in liquidtightness in a capsule, and wherein the suction pipe and exhaust pipe of the engine are each open at one end on the surface of the wafer. The exhaust pipe is cooled by the surrounding water. A water-collecting chamber is formed at the lower end of the exhaust pipe to collect water drops deposited on the inner wall surface of the exhaust pipe, the collected water being drawn off to the outside. A connection pipe provided with a flow control valve communicates with a discharge water hose. Air remaining in an impeller casing or part of the discharge water pressurized by the impellers is carried into the discharge water hose through the connection pipe. Engine-cooling water is held in a water tank shut off from the surrounding discharge water. The engine-cooling water brought pack through a return path from the engine capsule is cooled by discharge water drawn into the underwater pump.
