摘要： A snappy for a snare drum wherein the snare is caused to accurately and effectively contact the drum head. Both ends of the snare are fixed to a respective holding plate. A belt is installed in the holding plate and when the belt is either tightened or loosened, it causes the snare to respectively contact or become separated from the drum head surface. The holding plate that fixes and holds the snare has a V-shaped cross section including a rear plate part and a front plate part and a bend so that the plate is bent to the drum head. A belt engaging part protrudes down from the rear plate part near the bend and the belt is attached there. A snare is fixed on the radially inner side of the front plate part.

That clampable part is connected with a sprocket wheel. A pedal is connected by a chain with the sprocket wheel to rotate the wheel to rotate the shaft to beat the drum head. Adjustment of the clamp and the beater around the clampable part sets the beater amplitude.

The string tensioning portion includes a convex surface that is eccentric with respect to the axis about which the adjusting member rotates and is constructed so that there is a non-linear relationship between incremental movements of the adjusting member and tensioning of the string, with this relationship being such that the rate of string tensioning decreases as the magnitude of string tension increases.
