摘要： In a liquid crystal display device having a repair line for replacing a signal line disconnected in a display area thereof and extended from one side thereof to another side thereof opposite to the one side thereof, there is provided a signal amplifier on a circuit board arranged at the one side thereof. Since the circuit board supplies control signals to a signal driver circuit which outputs a video signal or the like to be transferred by the repair line toward another side of the liquid crystal display device, the video signal can be amplified by the signal amplifier before its waveform is deformed on its way through the repair line. Therefore, the video signal can be supplied to a part of the disconnected signal line at the another side of the liquid crystal display device by preventing the video signal from being deformed and delayed.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device suitable for generating an electric field sufficiently between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode to control the orientations of the liquid crystal molecules lying therebetween has a simple structure. A liquid crystal display device has a pair of substrates superposed on one another between which a liquid crystal layer is sealed, at least one video signal line and at least one pixel being formed on a surface of one of the pair of substrates confronting the liquid crystal layer. The pixel has at least one pixel electrode and at least two counter electrodes spaced from each other, and one of the counter electrodes is disposed adjacent to the one video signal line. The one video signal line and the one of the counter electrodes are spaced from one another by at least two insulating regions disposed along the surface, and one of the insulating regions comprises a material having a higher permittivity than that of the other regions.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device having suitable structures for avoiding the decline in the yield factor for production thereof by preventing signal lines formed therein from being disconnected. A liquid crystal display device has a pair of substrates confronting one another and being spaced by a liquid crystal layer and at least one first signal line, a first insulating film, at least one second signal line, and a second insulating film being formed above a surface of one of the pair of substrates. The at least one first signal line and the at least one second signal line are arranged so as to cross one another at a crossing region, where the at least one first signal line, the first insulating film, the at least one second signal line, and the second insulating film are disposed in this order from the surface of the one of the pair of the substrates. The second insulating film has a pair of openings piercing therethrough at both sides of the crossing region and a conductive layer is formed thereon. The conductive layer crosses over the at least one first signal line and electrically connected to the at least one second signal line via the pair of openings at both sides of the crossing region.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes transparent pixel electrodes disposed at intersections of scanning signal lines and data lines, and a plurality of thin film transistors each of which is provided correspondingly to one of the pixel electrodes. Each of the transistors includes an output electrode connected to one of the pixel electrodes, a control electrode connected to one of the scanning signal lines, and an input electrode connected to one of the data lines. A first insulating film covers the scanning signal lines, and a semiconductor layer is interposed between the first insulating film and a portion of the data lines. The method of making the liquid crystal display device includes the steps of etching a transistor semiconductor layer underlying the output electrode, in the thin film transistors using a photoresist mask formed on the transistor semiconductor layer such that an etched end of the transistor semiconductor layer on a side of the output electrode extends beyond an end of the output electrode, and etching an end of the semiconductor layer underlying the data lines, of the semiconductor layer using a metal film making up the data lines as a mask.

摘要： In a liquid crystal display device having a terminal or the like in a periphery thereof which has a conductive layer extending along a certain direction thereof and being covered with an insulating film and an oxide conductor layer formed on the insulating layer and contacting with the conductive layer in an opening in the insulating film, arrangements are provided to prevent disconnection of the oxide conductor layer. A semiconductor layer is provided under the conductive layer to be extending therealong in the liquid crystal display device. The semiconductor layer is also formed to be extended beyond an end of the conductive layer or to be wider than the conductive layer around the opening in the insulating film in the periphery of the liquid crystal display device.
