摘要： A toner composition includes toner particles having at least one spacer of substantially monodisperse latex particles that are dried and attached to the toner particles, in which the attached latex particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm. The presence of the spacer enables improved toner transfer efficiency maintainability while maintaining excellent tribo level, tribo stability with aging, charge through performance and cohesion behavior with aging.

摘要： A black toner of toner particles including at least one binder, at least one black colorant, and a package of external additives is described, wherein the at least one binder includes a styrene acrylate binder and wherein the external additives include each of a first silica having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, a second silica having an average particle size of from about 135 to about 160 nm, and a titania having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm. Also described is a developer that includes the black toner and carrier particles comprising a core of ferrite coated with a coating comprising a polymethyl methacrylate polymer and fluoro-copolymer, carbon black and melamine beads. The black toner and developer are preferably used in a semiconductive magnetic brush development system.

摘要： An electrostatographic imaging process includes forming an electrostatic latent image on an image forming device, developing the electrostatic latent image on the image forming device with at least one developer containing carrier particles and a blend of two or more compatible toner compositions, and transferring the toner image to a receiving substrate and fixing it thereto. Among the compatible toner compositions that may be selected are toner compositions having blend compatibility components coated on an external surface of the toner particles and particulate toner compositions containing therein blend compatibility components or passivated pigments. Electrostatographic imaging devices, including a tri-level imaging device and a hybrid scavengeless development imaging device, are also provided for carrying out the described process. The processes and apparatus of the present invention are especially useful in imaging processes for producing single color or highlight color images using customer selectable colors, or for adding highlight color to a process color image produced by the same apparatus.

摘要： Disclosed is a process for forming two-color images which comprises (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus; (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential; (3) developing the low areas of potential with a colored developer comprising a colored first toner comprising a polymer resin selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, styrene-acrylate copolymers, styrene-methacrylate copolymers, and mixtures thereof, a blue first colored pigment of the formula C.sub.32 H.sub.16 N.sub.8 Cu, a cetyl pyridinium chloride charge control agent, a 3,5-di-tertbutyl salicylate compound charge control agent, colloidal silica surface external additives, and metal stearate salt surface external additives; a colored second toner comprising a polymer resin selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, styrene-acrylate copolymers, styrene-methacrylate copolymers, and mixtures thereof, a cyan second colored pigment of the formula C.sub.104 H.sub.164 N.sub.12 O.sub.8 S.sub.4 Cu, a charge control agent selected from the group consisting of distearyl dimethyl ammonium methyl sulfate and distearyl dimethyl ammonium bisulfate, colloidal silica surface external additives, and metal stearate salt surface external additives; and a color carrier comprising a core and a coating selected from the group consisting of methyl terpolymer, polymethyl methacrylate, and a blend of from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of polymethylmethacrylate and from about 35 to about 65 percent by weight of chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer, wherein the coating contains from 0 to about 40 percent by weight of the coating of conductive particles; (4) subsequently developing the high areas of potential with a black developer comprising a black toner comprising a second resin present selected from the group consisting of polyesters, styrene-butadiene polymers, styrene-acrylate polymers, styrene-methacrylate polymers, and mixtures thereof, a black pigment, and a charge control additive; and a black carrier comprising a core and a coating selected from the group consisting of chlorotrifluoroethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer containing from 0 to about 40 percent by weight of conductive particles; polyvinylfluoride; and polyvinylchloride; and (5) transferring the developed two-color image to a substrate.

摘要： An apparatus develops an electrostatic latent image on a charge-retentive surface. A donor roll is selectably rotatable in a process direction and in a reverse direction relative to the process direction. A toner mover loads toner particles onto a portion of the surface of the donor roll. A metering blade is disposed downstream of the toner mover in the process direction. A seal is disposed upstream of the toner mover in the process direction, and is adapted to remove at least approximately half of the undeveloped toner from the donor roll.
