    • A system and a method in a wireless network utilizing session initiation protocol (SIP) for call control. The SIP payload (SDP) contains a list of voice codecs to coordinate the selection of voice bearer resources (between a calling party and a called party) such that the number of transcoders in the voice bearer path is minimized. An additional aspect of the embodiment of the present invention includes a serving MSCe that is operable to determine whether to initiate or discontinue ringback to the calling party. If ring back is to be initiated, ringback can be initiated from a Serving MGW controlled by the serving MSCe. The call negotiation process according to the described embodiment of the invention eliminates the requirement for any transcoding in specific situations to result in the number of transcoders used in the voice bearer path to be reduced to 0 (TrFO, Transcoder Free Operation) or to 1 (RTO, remote transmitter operation).

    • A method for intersystem handoff of a Mobile Station (MS) from an Anchor Mobile Switching Center emulation (MSCe) to a Target MSCe that both support Advanced Legacy Mobile Station Domain (ALMSD), wherein the MS is in communication with a B-Party. The Anchor MSCe sends a handoff request to the Target MSCe to allocate resources for a connection between the MS and an identified Target BS and to establishes bearer resources in a Target Media Gateway (MGW) and in the Target BS to support a voice bearer path between the Target BS and the B-Party. The Anchor MSCe instructs the MS when to move to the Target BS and upon a successful connection to the Target BS, the Anchor MSCe establishes a voice bearer path between the Target BS and the B-Party without maintaining any anchor network bearer resources. The Anchor MSCe completes the handoff by releasing resources in the Anchor BS.

    • An Anchor Mobile Switching Center emulation (MSCe) and a Target MSCe are described herein that take part in an intersystem handoff of a Mobile Station (MS) which is in communication with a B-party. Upon the MS establishing a connection with the Target MSCe, the Anchor MSCe may perform SDP offer/answer exchange between the Target network and the B-Party for the purpose of codec renegotiation to correct a transcoding incompatibility or to enhance the voice bearer path characteristics or to minimize the number of transcodings in the bearer path, between the two parties. The Anchor MSCe and the Target MSCe both support Advanced Legacy Mobile Station Domain (ALMSD) implying that only the SIP transport is used for intersystem handoff communications.

    • A system, method, and call processing component for controlling an order of call processing among a plurality of call processing components. Each call processing component, upon receiving a call request when system resources are not available to process the requested call, creates a real queue entry in its call processing queue and sends a call-queued notification to all other call processing components in the system.
