    • A parallelogram lift in which the deck rails are raised by lifting legs affixed to sliding members that slide within channels in the deck rails. Link arms pivotally connect to the deck rail to each leg, so that the deck rail lifts vertically. A single hydraulic actuator is used to actuate the legs supporting each deck rail, which ensures that the deck rail remains level during the lifting and lowering processes. In the preferred embodiment the hydraulic system is serially coupled between the hydraulic cylinders associated with each deck rail, which ensures that the displacement of hydraulic pistons raising both deck rails is synchronous so that the two deck rails are lifted at the same rate and remain horizontally aligned throughout lifting and lowering, and an incremental braking system is provided which automatically locks the deck rails into any desired elevated position, reducing the load on the hydraulic system and providing a failsafe against free-falling of the deck rails in the event of hydraulic failure.

    • Magazine dispensing apparatus has a housing with a delivery opening disposed in a lower region of a front wall of the housing. A number of selectively actuatable dispenser units are disposed within the housing. Each has a lower platform and a supporting structure for supporting and retaining a stack of magazines. The platform is formed with a forwardly and rearwardly extending slot through which runs the upper flight of an endless conveyor on which an ejector bar is connected. When the conveyor is actuated, it sweeps the ejector bar forwardly along the platform, displacing the lowermost magazine forwardly until it is free of the stack and falls freely downwardly to a chute which passes it to the delivery opening. The dispenser units can be disposed within the housing well above the delivery opening, and the ejector member passes only once through the dispenser unit with each dispensing cycle, so that access of rain or snow to the magazines and risk of the cover of a magazine being abraded by the ejector bar is prevented or reduced.

    • Movable louvered window shutters embody a construction and a process for their fabrication that results in a shutter having a high quality, functionally and aesthetically. The shutters use a hardware arrangement including two types of louver pins, a compression spring and a tensioning mechanism to adjust the frictional drag on the shutters. The hardware facilitates a procedure in which the frame and louvers of the shutter are fabricated and finished separately and then assembled. The same kit of hardware can be used to make virtually any size window shutter having movable louvers. The tensioning mechanism includes a threaded insert that enables adjustment of the frictional drag on the louvers without causing deterioration or damage to the shutter frame.

    • Apparatus and methods to hold and manipulate dental floss for the removal of plaque and food particles from teeth surfaces. The invention comprises: an elongated handle which may house, contain, and dispense a supply of dental floss; a stationary tong which does not generally move with respect to the handle; a pivotal tong which can be pivoted about a pivot point; means for securing the pivotal tong to the handle to selectively adjust the distance between terminal ends of the stationary tong and the pivotal tong; and means for anchoring the dental floss to the terminal ends of the stationary and pivotal tongs, the dental floss being positioned to span the distance and be pulled taut between the terminal ends of the tongs. Means for guiding the length of dental floss along the stationary and pivotal tongs and/or means for cutting the dental floss may also be provided.
