    • A diagnostic urethral assembly is provided. The assembly includes an elongate body having a fluid passageway and an elongate support member selectively positionable within the fluid passageway of the elongate body. The elongate body has a radially responsive wall segment, the elongate body being positionable within a lower urinary tract such that the radially responsive wall segment is adjacent a prostatic urethra. The elongate body is adapted to be in fluid communication with a bladder. The assembly has a first operably selective condition wherein the elongate support member is translatable relative to the elongate body so as to permit sequential and incremental radial compression of the radially responsive wall segment by the prostatic urethra in furtherance of defining architecture associated with the prostatic urethra. The assembly further has a second operably selective condition wherein fluid distally introduced into the elongate body radially expands the radially responsive wall segment into conforming engagement with the prostatic urethra in furtherance of obtaining a mold of same.

    • Embodiments of adjustable length intraurethral devices intended for patients with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) are disclosed. These devices are to be placed within the human urethra and in communication with the bladder. Each device is easily adjustable to accommodate the prostatic length and sphincteric anatomy of the patient. Devices are stabilized in the urethra by two anchoring elements. The first anchor is fluid filled and positioned at the outlet of the bladder, and a second anchor is mechanical and is located at the bulbous urethra. These are separated by a structure which selectively supports a portion of the urethra from closing without restricting the portion of the urethra in the region of the external sphincter. These embodiments provide for the regulation of the flow of urine from the bladder by the natural control of the external sphincter when the user desires.

    • Several embodiments of an endourethral prosthesis, assembly, and attendant methods are provided for patients presenting with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) or urinary retention. The endourethral prosthesis includes a reversibly expandable element disposed circumferentially about, and longitudinally along a tubular member adapted to receive urine. The tubular member is positionable within a lower urinary tract such that the reversibly expandable element operatively engages a structure of the lower urinary tract so as to prevent migration of the prosthesis so positioned. The reversibly expandible element is in non-reversible fluid communication with the tubular element for selective expansion thereof, the reversibly expandible element is further operatively engagable so as to discharge fluid non-reversibly received from the tubular member exterior to same.

    • An intravascular device, such as a sheath, and methods for use thereof for selective alternate positioning of other intravascular devices having predetermined sizes in a distal vascular region of the body of a patient. The intravascular selection sheath comprises a tubular body having proximal, intermediate and distal sections and a lumen extending therethrough. The portion of the lumen in the distal section can be occupied by only one of the other intravascular devices of the predetermined sizes at a given time. The portion of the selection sheath lumen in the intermediate section can be occupied by at least two intravascular devices of the predetermined sizes in a side by side relationship. In operation, the two other intravascular devices occupy positions in the lumen in the intermediate section of the selection sheath. First, one of the intravascular devices can be advanced into the lumen in the distal section of the selection sheath and then withdrawn back into the intermediate section. Next, the other of the intravascular devices can be advanced from the intermediate section into the distal section of the selection sheath, thereby allowing for multiple diagnostics, therapies, or other procedures to be performed alternatively. The other intravascular devices that occupy positions in the sheath lumen can be exchanged for yet further intravascular devices. This selection sheath geometry can also be incorporated in intravascular devices that provide therapeutic and/or diagnostic functions.
