    • A system for enhancing security printing includes a segmentation system, a secure database in operative communication with the segmentation system, a secure registry in selective operative communication with the segmentation system, and an analysis system in operative communication with the segmentation system and the secure database, and in selective operative communication with the secure registry. The segmentation system performs zoning analysis on a scanned image to identifying a list of regions in the image. The secure database stores at least one of i) a template, or ii) prior zoning output specification. The secure registry stores region of interest information and information pertaining to strategies for identifying a region of interest. The analysis system identifies the region of interest utilizing at least one of the secure database or the secure registry.

    • A method of classifying a document includes providing a plurality of classifier engines and classifying the document using output from one or more of the classifier engines based on a comparison of one or more metrics for each classifier engine. In another embodiment, a method of classifying a document comprises providing a plurality of classifier engines and determining one or more metrics for each classifier engine. These metrics are used to determine how to use the classifier engines to classify the document, and the document is classified accordingly. A further embodiment includes a document classifier utilizing a plurality of classifier engines. In yet another embodiment, a computer-readable medium contains instructions for controlling a computer system to perform a method of using a plurality of classifier engines to classify a document.

    • A reading device reads ambiguous target elements of an authentication target printed on a medium. Each ambiguous target element has a number of different manners by which the ambiguous target element can be interpreted by the reading device. The authentication target as read by the reading device is compared against an authentication signature of the reading device. The authentication signature specifies for each ambiguous target element an expected manner by which the reading device interprets the ambiguous target element as one of the different manners by which the ambiguous target element can be interpreted. Where the authentication target as read by the reading device matches the authentication signature of the reading device, the reading device is signaled as having passed authentication.
