摘要： The invention relates to a light source and an illumination system. The light source (10) comprises a light emitter (20) and a light conversion element (30). The light emitter emits visible light of a first color through the light conversion element in a direction away from the light source. The light conversion element comprises a photoluminescent material (40) for converting at least a part of the light of the first color into light of a second color different from the first color. The light source further comprises conversion material (42) for converting at least a part of ambient light impinging on the conversion material into light of a third color (Ba) different from the second color. When the light emitter emits light, the color of the light emitted is mainly a mixture of the light of the first color and light of the second color. When the light emitter does not emit light, the color of the light emitted by the light source is determined by the reflected ambient light, light of the second color and light of the third color. As such, the color of the light source can be tuned when the light emitter does not emit light and can, for example, be made substantially identical to the color of the light emitted when the light emitter emits light.

摘要： An autostereoscopic display lens arrangement comprises an array (9) of parallel lenticular lenses (11), wherein the lens array comprises first and second materials of different refractive indices (60,62) sandwiched between planar substrates, with the interface between the first and second materials defining the lens surfaces. The first material has a refractive index n1, the lens array has a lens pitch p and the lenticular lenses have a radius of curvature at their centre of R, and the lenses satisfy n1 (p/2R)>0.6. This arrangement gives reduced banding and loss of intensity at steep angles when used in an autostereoscopic display.

摘要： The present invention provides a system (150) (160), apparatus (100) (200) and method to exploit the high beam quality of a laser light source to lower the cost and decrease the size of a color sequentially operated and laser based projector. Using a color mixing rod integrator (100) (200) (500) (550), laser light is homogenized, thus supplying the proper illumination pattern to a spatial light modulator. The rod integrator is also used to recombine the light of the primary colors, thus obviating dichroic recombination optics. For this purpose all light is coupled into the entrance plane of one and the same color mixing rod integrator. In this way a low cost and compact illumination system is obtained. By adding extra reflective layers to entrance (101) (201) and exit faces (105) of the integrator, the length of the integrator is decreased and/or the F/# in the system is increased. This enables a truly portable projector. When applying a color mixing rod integrator according to the present invention in a light engine with a reflective spatial light modulator, the integrator is very well suited for light recycling, which can increase an image's brightness up to a factor of three at average video display load.
