    • A screening basket has one or more screen decks and has upright side walls integrated with cross beams. A side beam, at approximately the center of gravity of the basket, is integrated with each of the side walls as well as with the cross beams to provide a unitary, rugged basket capable of vibratory movement on a support frame. A pair of cross shafts extend transversely of the screening basket and project beyond the side walls. These shafts are journaled in the side beams and have one projecting end geared together for opposite rotation. These projecting ends carry eccentric weights of different mass to provide an oval vibratory stroke of the screening basket upon rotation of the shafts. Adjusting mechanism is provided to adjust the relative position of the weights on the shafts to vary the angle of stroke. These weights are arranged to receive auxiliary weights to vary the amplitude of vibratory stroke as well as the shape of the stroke. The screen decks include tensioning clamp mechanism on at least one end which also is adjustable for lateral alignment with the screening. The screen decks preferably comprise at least two sections with end and intermediate tensioning clamp mechanism. These screen sections are supported on cross beams in turn supported on end bars pivotally mounted centrally thereof to the side walls of the basket to conform precisely to the contour of the underside of the screen.

    • A gyratory rock crusher having a base seal and a cone seal. The cone seal has a recess for receiving a projecting portion of the base seal, and these portions have cooperating upper and lower spherical surfaces arranged for relative parallel movement upon gyratory movement of the cone. The projecting portion has a thickness less than the width of the recess and springs are provided for holding the base seal upwardly against the cone seal to provide sealing engagement between upper surfaces of the two seals and to provide a space between lower surfaces thereof. Forced air is moved into the recess by a plurality of ducts in the projecting portion and discharge of forced air is through the lower space whereby to block the entrance of contaminants into the crusher. A deflector is mounted on the end of the projecting portion to reverse movement of the incoming air and efficiently direct such air through the space for blocking the entrance of contaminants. Engaging surfaces of the cone and base seals are provided with a dust sealing insert and a thrust insert.

    • A first annular seal member on the base of a gyratory rock crusher is associated with a second annular seal member on the crusher cone. These two seal members have cooperating spherical surfaces which rub slidably together in the gyratory movements. An air sealing chamber is formed by the sealing members and other portions of the crusher and is associated with an annular groove in the first seal member having an inlet with a forced air system in an arrangement wherein air currents intercept dust moving along the spherical surfaces and also carry such dust away from inner portions of the crusher.

    • A scale is provided for establishing a swing inertia value of golf clubs by providing support means arranged to contact the grip portion of the club such that the axis of rotation of a person's grip on the grip portion of the club when in the act of swinging the club is disposed vertically above the pivotal axis of a balance beam of the scale. The scale supports a golf club for determining such swing inertia value and includes calibrations which comprise values determined by multiplying the head weight of the club by the length of the club shaft extending from the pivotal axis of the balance beam to the center of gravity of the club head. The scale can also be used to determine the head weight of a club.

    • Oppositely facing surfaces have grooves in one of the surfaces and low coefficient of friction inserts in the grooves. The inserts have a thickness greater than the depth of the grooves so as to project from the grooves when seated therein for bearing against a facing surface and maintaining the two surfaces in spaced apart relation. Such inserts provide a reduced friction relation between the two surfaces whereby the two surfaces can be readily rotated between a working condition having a thrust load therebetween and a loosened non-working condition. Preferably, two or more of the grooves and inserts are provided, the inserts being held in the grooves by distorted portions in the walls of the grooves. The joint assembly of the invention is particularly applicable to rock crushers of the type having a threaded connecting joint between a bowl member and support therefor, whereby the low coefficient of friction inserts provide a liner or spacer which prevents galling of the threads under heavy load and provides for ready rotation of the two members when desired. The present joint assembly may also be used in association with the threads of a jam nut of a type which locks the bowl against rotation on the support, and furthermore may be used in unthreaded opposing surfaces between the jam nut and the support.
