    • The invention is concerned with a hollow mounting pin for a sun visor for an automotive vehicle. The mounting pin is bent. One leg is affixed to the body of the automotive vehicle. The other leg serves as one part of the swivel bearing for the sun visor body. An electric conductor passes through the hollow mounting pin. At the end of the hollow mounting pin located at the swivel bearing on the visor body, a receptacle is formed. An electric switch contact is supported in the receptacle. The contact includes a contact projection that extends through the wall of the receptacle. A cooperating strap is defined on the visor body. As the visor body is swiveled, the strap selectively contacts or is out of contact with the contact projection. The electric switch contact in the receptacle is prevented from pivoting with respect to the receptacle by the contact projection and/or by appropriate complementary profiling of the electric switch contact and the receptacle. Various configurations for the electric switch contact are disclosed, including a U-shaped body with the contact projection being at the web of the "U", a length of wire, bent generally hairpin-like, and having a U-shape, with the contact projection being on the one arm of the "U". The electric switch contact is adapted to have the conductor that passes through the hollow mounting pin secured to it and through the contact strap on the visor body, the electric connection to the light source is made.

    • The invention concerns a novel electric connection to a light source, or the like, on a sun visor for a vehicle. At one edge of the sun visor body, there is a pivot pin that is supported in a preferably plastic support that is held in the sun visor body. The pivot pin is received in a socket held to the body of the vehicle and which includes electtric contacts in it. An electric lead extends through the pivot pin and leads to the light source. The pivot pin has a radially extending groove. A contact element extends from outside the groove into the groove for contacting the lead therein. The contact element extends out of the groove and may be wrapped around the pivot pin for engaging a corresponding contact element in the socket, which contact element is connected, in turn, to an electric wire in the vehicle electrical system. Various forms of contact elements for the pivot pin are disclosed. This includes a sleeve positioned in the bore in the pivot pin and having arms projecting out of the groove of the pivot pin to the exterior of the pivot pin for contacting the contact element in the socket. Alternatively, a C-shaped claw member is wrapped around the pivot pin, and the longitudinal edges of the claw project through the groove so that at least one of the edges of the claw contacts the wire in the bore of the pin. In another embodiment, the pivot pin has two diametrically opposite grooves and each longitudinal edge of the claw projects into a respective groove.

    • The present invention is directed to a sun visor, which has a sun visor body made of a plastic material, and a tube body made of a metal, such as aluminum. The tube body extends in the upper longitudinal edge of the sun visor body essentially over the longitudinal extension of the tube body, which stabilizes the sun visor body. The tube body is used as a guide for a sliding body connected with a shaft, which is intended to be used for the axial displacement of the sun visor body. In connection with this sun visor, the sun visor body is comprised of expanded polypropylene (EPP) plastic materials, the width of the tube body is equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the sun visor body and the EPP material only adjoins the wall area of the tube body facing away from the free longitudinal edge of the sun visor body. For the purpose of assuring a solid connection with the EPP material of the sun visor body during its production, the tube body is provided with a covering, at least in the wall area adjoining the EPP material, which is capable of entering into a solid connection with the EPP material.

    • A sun visor for a motor vehicle has a mirror housing disposed in a depression in a surface of the sun visor body. A mirror is supported in the mirror housing. A sliding cover over the mirror is slidable to cover or expose the mirror. The visor body has a covering section over the sliding cover when it has moved to expose the mirror to view. The cover is automatically operable by a spring connected between the mirror housing and the cover for moving the cover to the mirror exposed position. The cover is locked against opening by a push button operated unlocking mechanism which normally locks the cover closed and which opens it upon the push button being operated. A card or ticket holder is held in a separate depression in the covering section of the visor body.

    • A sun visor has a sun visor body and an L-shaped visor body support shaft. A first arm of the shaft is received in a bearing bracket. A second arm of the shaft extends along a first longitudinal edge of the visor body. The first longitudinal edge of the body has a step shaped offset defining a free space at the end thereof toward the first support shaft arm. The support shaft second arm is perpendicular to the first arm and extending across the free space. The second arm has a free end region which extends into a mounting hole defined in the visor body and toward one longitudinal end. In the free space defined by the step shaped offset and into the first longitudinal edge of the visor body, an illuminating device is supported by a housing attached to the second shaft arm.
