    • By altering existing code to wrap debugging items with runtime conditional statements, the debugging items may remain in commercial builds of code. Execution of a given conditional statement, wrapping a particular debugging item, may require a read of a particular location in an expandable and organized table such that execution of the particular debugging item is dependent on the value stored in the particular location in the table. By storing appropriate values in the table, a very focused debugging operation may be carried out. When implemented on a mobile communication device, such a focused debugging operation may be considered to conserve limited memory resources and reduce radio costs when compared to an unfocused debugging operation, which can create a large log file that is difficult to store and expensive to transmit.

    • Apparatus, methods, data structures, and computer programming for the display on mobile wireless communications devices of information without the authorization or control of administrative servers. Displayed information can include, for example, carrier logos, news, and advertisements presented at the initiative of local service providers or other third-party systems. The local service providers or other parties are enabled to control the location and manner of the displays, as well as the content of data displayed. Providing control over the display to the local service provider enables, among other advantages, the transmission and display of much richer content, in more flexible manner than has heretofore been possible, including static and dynamic graphic images. The Application can be particularly useful in GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS systems.

    • A method and apparatus for presenting information is provided. In an embodiment, an electronic device with wireless telephony features is provided. The display of the device is divided into at least two regions. The first region is reserved for presenting status information about the device, including such information as battery life, signal strength, time and date, carrier information, and the like. The second region is reserved for use by applications, such as at least a main menu application and an incoming telephone call application. When an incoming call arrives, the main menu application presented on the second region is replaced with the incoming call information, but the status information remains unchanged. As the status of the incoming call changes from unanswered to answered, only a portion of the second region is updated, as a remaining portion of the second region remains the same and indicates that an incoming call is being processed.

    • A mobile communication device assists in a handover procedure between a first base station and a second base station using reliable and efficient techniques. The mobile device has a wireless transceiver and one or more processors coupled to the wireless transceiver. In one illustrative example, the one or more processors of the mobile device are operative to maintain a voice or data call over a traffic channel with use of the wireless transceiver; cause handover information of the handover procedure to be transmitted over a first control channel (e.g. SACCH) with use of the wireless transceiver during the voice or data call; and cause the same handover information of the handover procedure to be transmitted over a second control channel (e.g. FACCH) during the voice or data call. Further, the one or more processors may be operative to cause a message for the handover procedure to be transmitted in a layer-2 (L2) frame with use of the wireless transceiver during the voice or data call; and cause updated system information (e.g. an updated BA list) to be transmitted in the L2 frame with use of the wireless transceiver during the voice or data call.

    • There is disclosed a system and method for managing spam within an email message stream. In an embodiment, a method comprises defining a plurality of anti-spam filter levels where each anti-spam filter level includes at least one anti-spam module configurable for filtering spam messages. An anti-spam request including a user preferred anti-spam filter level is generated and communicated to the preferred anti-spam filter level. The anti-spam request is implemented on at least one anti-spam module in the preferred anti-spam filter level based on at least one predetermined criterion. If the anti-spam request cannot be implemented at the preferred anti-spam filter level, the anti-spam request is implemented on at least one anti-spam module at another anti-spam filter level.
