The formulations are effective in the treatment of progressive supranuclear palsy, Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Tauopathies or stress disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Curcumin crosses the blood brain barrier, localizes in the hippocampus and striata, prevents stress-induced neuronal cell damage, and stimulates neurogenesis and remediation of damaged neural circuits.

The compositions and methods of the present invention comprise binding one or more QT prolonging drugs with a liposome prior to parenteral (intravenous or subcutaneous) administration, or administration of an empty liposome prior to or concomitantly with therapeutic agents known to have a high risk of QT prolongation, or immediately following an envenomation. The results presented show an abrogation of the adverse effects of QT prolonging drugs in a dose-dependent manner by the compositions of the present invention.

摘要： A method of treating cancer in a human uses x-rays to disrupt a linkage in a complex of a chemotherapeutic agent and a carrier compound comprising a pre-selected element. The complex is administered to the human and then a localized region of cells which contains the cancerous cells is irradiated with line emission x-rays of an energy selected to cause emission of Auger electrons from the pre-selected element of the carrier compound to disrupt the linkage and release the chemotherapeutic agent near the cancer cells. A kit useful for the treatment comprises an x-ray tube capable of emitting monochromatic line emission x-rays and the complex compound. A transfer compound useful in the method comprises a chemotherapeutic agent linked to a carrier compound.

摘要： Pre-treatment with &agr;,&bgr; unsaturated aryl sulfones protects normal cells from the toxic side effects of ionizing radiation. Administration of a radioprotective &agr;,&bgr; unsaturated aryl sulfone compound to a patient prior to anticancer radiotherapy reduces the cytotoxic side effects of the radiation on normal cells. The radioprotective effect of the &agr;,&bgr; unsaturated aryl sulfone allows the clinician to safely increase the dosage of anticancer radiation. In some instances, amelioration of toxicity following inadvertent radiation exposure may be mitigated with administration of &agr;,&bgr; unsaturated arylsulfone.
